The next batch of modernized BMP-2M with the Berezhok combat module was handed over to the military ahead of schedule

The Russian military-industrial complex continues to increase the production of armored vehicles necessary for special operations, including infantry fighting vehicles. The next batch of modernized BMP-2M with the Berezhok combat module has been handed over to the military. This was reported by the press service of Rostec.

A new batch of modernized BMP-2Ms was sent by military rail. How many vehicles are in the batch is not reported, but it is noted that all the equipment was delivered to the troops ahead of schedule, ahead of the delivery schedule. The modernization of the BMP-2 to the level of the BMP-2M is carried out by Kurganmashzavod.

The Instrument Design Bureau of High-Precision Complexes (part of Rostec), ahead of schedule in 2023, delivered modernized BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles with Berezhok combat compartments to the troops.

- said in a statement.

The BMP-2 is one of the most massive infantry fighting vehicles, put into service in 1980 and produced until 1990. To date, all BMP-2s in the army are being upgraded. The modernization itself, in addition to installing the BM "Berezhok", provides for the installation of new turbocharged engines, strengthening the suspension and building up armor.

The manned two-seat combat module B05YA01 "Berezhok" is a classic BMP-2 turret, but with an updated weapon system: instead of the main gunner's sight BPK-2-42, a combined sight with an independent line of sight stabilization system in two planes is installed. It combines optical sighting, thermal imaging and laser rangefinding channels, as well as a guided missile guidance channel. The BMP's armament consists of a Kornet anti-tank missile system, a 30-mm cannon and a 30-mm AG-30M automatic grenade launcher with an independent vertical guidance drive and a power magazine for 300 grenades.

And where is the BMP 3, BMP 4 (there is one too), you shouldn’t ask about Kurganets. An old cardboard BMP 2 from a storage warehouse with a different turret is all that our defense industry can do?

Yours yes, but ours can be even worse.
For us, everything goes to the front and to victory, even T-55 and T-62, but for you I don’t know.

Your defense industry can only weld barbecues onto free Bradleys from the Vietnam era, and stick around them with Soviet Kontakt-1... laughing

It seems like they wrote that they are increasing the armor. Is it real?

The most important thing is that there is a new sight with an IR range. This is already a lot. At least at night you can see something. Plus 4 ATGM "Kornet"
And the armor used to protect against Kalash and distant fragments and now does not protect against 30mm guns. Bradley is exactly the same.

Regarding the 30 mm, in the frontal projection, the Bradley SGAs in service look at you with some bewilderment. hi

Yes, the one who created the old BPK-2-49 with a scale illumination lamp had a good sense of humor.

And what is not real, since 1982. The BMP-2D modification is being produced, the armor has just been increased.

Judging by the photo, there is no armor build-up on the hull. The tower module itself will most likely be stronger than before.

BMP4? And where did you “dig up” this?

There was essentially the same BMP-3 but with steel armor and did not know how to swim; it did not go into production. As for Kurganets, the workshop will be built; the workshop will be Kurganets.

As far as I remember, several prototypes were made, I watched an interview with the designer, information slipped through in tenths, then nothing. At that time, it was superior to Bradley, etc. But Mr. Taburetkin apparently thought that this was unnecessary.

Exactly! This is BMP-3M! I heard about this BMP several years ago...in the article, by the way, there was a hint that the BMP-3M is a “working” name...it’s possible that the serial name will be different...but I never recognized this “serial” "the name, because it practically never appeared in publications! But this BMP-3M was not “pure iron”! The type of armor is the same as that of the BMP-3! I also don’t remember that the BMP-3M lost the ability to swim, although I can’t say that it has such an ability! By the way, for each infantry fighting vehicle there is a “pair”: BMP-1/BMD-1; BMP-2/BMD-2; BMP-3/BMD-3...but I know BMP-3M and BMD-4M “one by one”!

not a question cowboy...you take out your wallet and pay at once for the write-off of all BMP-1 and BMP-2 for scrap and replacement with modern infantry fighting vehicles, and at the same time you pay for new assembly facilities... and I will be in the forefront of standing ovation for you and nominating you for president )))))

The deuce should be written off a long time ago - should this junk be modernized?

The modernization and repair of BMP-1/2 should be carried out by district armored repair plants, possibly branches of Kurganmashzavod.
The task of the main and only enterprise in the Russian Federation for the production of infantry fighting vehicles is to maximize the production of BMP-3M, develop and establish mass production of new promising models of infantry fighting vehicles (Manul, Kurganets....)

Where is the dynamic protection, the anti-cumulative grilles, the “barbecue” above the tower?
some kind of “short” modernization is obtained....

During transportation, the body kit is removed. There are on-board screens for them, incl. with elements of dynamic protection. But the fact that the armor has been increased is good, it means it will hold large fragments and large bullets.

There has been talk about the "Berezhok" module on this resource for several years. So the “unprintable word” must wait for the roasted rooster to peck at the seat and begin to actively work with the head and all the limbs.

Do you remember how they wrote at VO that some people wanted to bankrupt the Kurgan plant? I'd like to see where they are.
