Browser Robert Johnson from Business Insider считаетthat China and Japan are one step closer to war. In response to the deployment of Chinese fighters, Japan is considering allowing F-15 pilots to fire tracer bullets, thus warning Chinese pilots. What is this if not a step to war?
At the air base "Shuimen" in Fujian province, which, according to experts, was completed at the end of last year, are combat aircraft J-10, Su-30 fighters and various UAVs, one after the other arriving at the base.
In addition to the aircraft, experts believe, there are also Russian C-300 complexes on the base, which provide almost the best defense against missiles in the world. C-300 are comparable, the author writes, with the American-made Patriot air defense system, those that were recently sent to Turkey to the “first line of the Syrian defense.”
Shuimen Air Base supports China’s Eastern Fleet, equipped with 35 ships in the region, including the newest 054, seven submarines, and eight additional landing ships. Among the submarines are four Russian-made underwater diesel-electric boats of the Kilo class, capable of waging the most modern submarine warfare.
And all this is just 236 km from the disputed Senkaku Islands.
Although the United States does not support the official position of the Japanese on who owns the islands, one would expect military support from them under the US-Japan security treaty signed in 1960.
Meanwhile, Johnson believes, few people believe that the US will risk unleashing a full-scale war with China because of several uninhabited islands, even regardless of how much oil and gas there are between these islands. Moreover, China has enormous strength near the region and today it looks very well equipped to conduct a real battle.
Reuters writes that last week the United States and Japan began reviewing defense cooperation guidelines for the first time in 15 years. The argument for this was the statements of the Prime Minister of the “hawk” Shinzo Abe about the territorial dispute with nuclear China and nuclear North Korea.
Officially, journalists only learned from the Japanese Defense Ministry that the Tokyo military wanted to discuss the role of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and the American military forces in the future for the next 5, 10, 15 years and regional security in the indicated periods. There are no details in the press. True, it is clear that the revision of the defense doctrine and the definition of short, medium and long-term "prospects" is due to the dramatic change in the security situation over the past 15 years, including China’s sea expansion and the development of missiles by North Korea. This is not hidden in the Japanese government.
A working meeting was held in Tokyo between US and Japanese officials. Experts suggest that developing a joint strategy will take a year or more. As a result, Japan’s defense policy should coincide with the American diplomatic focus now aimed at Asia.
Today, Japan has what is known as the “right to collective self-defense,” that is, the right to defense with the support of allies, who can take action even when Japan itself is not attacked. Nevertheless, the Japanese authorities traditionally interpret the pacifist constitution as a ban on the actual exercise of the claimed right, revealing a weak link in the field of security and military ties between Tokyo and Washington. Now “hawk” Abe wants to change this interpretation. Such a change in policy will allow Japan to exercise the claimed right in full force.
However, the Ministry of Defense doesn’t say anything about whether the question of the right of collective self-defense was discussed in Tokyo.
Much further in the issue of war between the United States, Japan and China, went to the professor at the Australian National University, Hugh White, a well-known expert in international relations. Adam Westlake ("The Japan Daily Press"), referring to the Sydney Morning Herald, said that the Australian professor predicted the Sino-Japanese war already in 2013, and with the participation of the United States.
He believes that the recent violations of Japanese airspace by Chinese aircraft and the victory of the nationalist prime minister’s election in Japan create all the prerequisites for the two Asian superpowers to make war this year. White argues that the tension between the two countries today is one of the conditions that led to war many times stories, even if the conflict was not in the interest of either one or the other country.
No doubt, the professor continues, the United States will be drawn into the conflict on the side of Japan. There is no guarantee that the coming war will be short and easy. The fronts will create the three richest countries in the world, and two of them have nuclear weapon.
In addition, the professor believes that China is trying to challenge the United States, and President Barack Obama "turned to Asia," which in itself represents a strategic response to China’s growing power and territorial claims in the region. White believes that the dispute over the islands in East China will inevitably lead to the fact that someone will start shooting.
As for the author of the article, Adam Westlake, he finds the economic war more likely. Such a war, fraught with financial losses and threats to the economy, would be a more likely outcome, the journalist believes. We already have examples, the analyst writes, of violent September protests in China. Sales in the Middle Kingdom of Japanese cars fell by half. Quite a few Japanese companies and property are located in China: as part of the blockade, all this can be destroyed. The general damage to imports and exports, if, along with popular discontent, suggests possible official bans, will be more than enough to destroy the permanent trade relations between the two countries.
Robert Rodvik (Canadian resource Voltairenet.org) recalls that America has been at war with China for decades.
After decades of covert actions aimed at overthrowing the Chinese communist government, in 1989, the CIA initiated the first of its so-called “color” revolutions, which the Americans tried to put into practice in Eastern Europe and Georgia. In 1989, a well-known protest rally was held in Beijing, before which the CIA agents diligently trained a circle of "students" in a thesis on the democratic overthrow of the communist government.
The events on Tiananmen Square (three years later) risked an unbiased opinion to cover only the Canadian newspaper “The Vancouver Sun” in the issue of September 17 of the year 1992. The newspaper referred to the Associated Press. Alas, the publication was placed on the 20 page. The article traced the connection of events on Tiananmen Square with the anti-Chinese activities of the CIA. The article had a trifling title, but Robert Rodvik advises readers to “forget about the name”, since all the names in the press are created by someone else, not the author. And often they have little in common with the content of the material. As for the text, the story of the Associated Press was a real revelation. The article began with:
"The head of the CIA in China left the country two days before Chinese troops attacked demonstrators in the capital Beijing in 1989 ... The Central Intelligence Agency was not only a source of protests, but also cooperated with the Chinese secret services, with whom Washington maintains close relations with 1970 of the year…"
The article further states:
"A few months before the attack on the demonstrators on June 3, the CIA helped activist students form the anti-government movement, providing them with typewriters, fax machines and other equipment to help them spread their messages ... the CIA declined to comment."
Truth-lovers from Vancouver Sun did not stop there. Another article, dated 31 May 1999, citing the Washington Post, dealt with the US bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade.
In fact, the bombing was the "official" response to constant Chinese commentary against US policy. In 1999, China accused the United States of instigating mass protests on Tiananmen Square, which shook Beijing ten years ago, says the San article. The bloody drama on the square was shown as part of a strategy for the political chaos in China.
As for the Washington Post, this newspaper pointed out how its editors interpreted a Chinese statement. Readers were told that the Chinese “controlled parliament” gave such comments.
Naturally, comrade Rodvik notes, we accept everything printed in China as unconditional nonsense, but at the same time nothing that happens in Washington should be subject to our doubts.
As the Chinese parliamentarians said, the United States played an inglorious role in 1989, creating protest workshops, developing their schemes and providing money and goods to support those who break the law ... Not only that, America also spread horrific rumors using its media the purpose of cheating the international community. In The Washington Post, Rodvik writes, every bit of information coming from China was condemned.
During the 7 embassy bombing in Belgrade in May, the Chinese government has subjected the United States to ruthless criticism. The purpose of the strikes, said in Beijing, is to destabilize China.
Imagine, comrade Rodvik writes, that the Chinese really are protesting only because the United States bombed the embassy and killed several of its employees. Imagine the opposite situation: China is bombing the US embassy anywhere in the world. What do you think will happen? .. Bombers will be launched into the sky right up to B2.
The author is struck by the CIA's cynicism. In July 1989, photographs appeared depicting the violent actions taken by "peaceful" protesters: in the pictures we see Tanks, armored personnel carriers and army trucks. "Students" are armed with machine guns. Apparently, the analyst notes, the CIA gave them something more than fax machines ...
Returning to Yugoslavia 1999, the author recalls that on the night of 7 in May, three NATO missiles struck the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade. The Americans immediately explained this atrocity with an “incorrect”, outdated map, on which the embassy was not marked in the appropriate place. This pitiful explanation did not convince a single person, and least of all the Chinese who were furious. 26 injured and three dead! China accused the United States of deliberately attacking.
It later emerged that the CIA specifically chose a target that allegedly turned out to be a purely random target - due to outdated maps. Defense Secretary William Cohen and CIA Director George Tenet made a joint statement that, according to NATO, the building housed a Yugoslav military facility, not the Chinese Embassy.
If, however, the author writes with anger, the “NATO gang” really doesn’t have “untargeted” lists of objects, as local people say, then why has this organization bombed so many hospitals, rest homes, churches, schools and other civilian buildings? On the same day that the Chinese embassy was bombed, NATO bombers hit cluster bombs on the Yugoslav Nish Hospital and an open market full of civilians, killing an 15 man and injuring 70.
The Chinese, says Rodvik, were humiliated. After all, they were not able to respond to the aggressor. The USA and partners of this satrap have made a physical statement about the fact that, say, China is a paper tiger.
Here, the analyst says, and that moment came when the government of the Celestial Empire understood: it was time to seriously develop our armed forces, giving this matter a considerable part of the budget. Chinese analysts at the time said that without a more effective military doctrine, the economy and sovereignty of the country could suffer from imperialist attacks, the initiators of which could use nuclear weapons.
According to Rodvik, with Obama’s strategic "shift", that is, reorientation towards the APR, it is only a matter of time ...
Independent journalist James Corbett, who recently announced from Japan, does not fully agree with Rodvik "RT"that the US legitimized the possibility of a nuclear strike on China, introducing the relevant provision in the Law on National Defense, which Barack Obama has already signed. However, America is not planning a nuclear attack on China, but is seeking to justify its nuclear arsenal, the journalist said. He proposes to study the problem "in a broader context." For several decades, the United States has been trying to find an excuse for their huge arsenal of nuclear weapons and a pretext for creating new types of weapons. The US military has another goal: to “hack” the START-3 treaty. Congress opposes any cuts proposed by Obama, trying to abolish them "before they begin."
Analyst Dmitry Melnikov ("Century") writes that the Americans have already formed separate elements of the "ring of anaconda" around China. The most reliable “ring” segments: Japan and South Korea. These countries successfully fit into the US interests protection system. JI troops are stationed in their territories, and these states are involved in the implementation of the missile defense system dangerous for China. Japanese Ajis and CM-3 anti-missiles are manufactured at Japanese enterprises.
Chinese comrade Hu Yumin ("China Daily") Recallsthat, due to the “financial cliff,” the United States may cut defense spending, but it is wrong to assume that the reduction will weaken the United States militarily.
In fact, the author writes, Washington has allocated more funds for the development of the “Fast Global Strike” - a system that allows precise strikes with non-nuclear weapons anywhere in the world within an hour. According to estimates by the Russian Ministry of Defense, by the 2015, the Pentagon has at its disposal from 1500 to 1800 naval and air-based cruise missiles intended for delivering a first strike, and by the 2020 year, this number will increase to 2500-3000 units. And the US is trying to combine BSU with space and anti-missile technologies. The goal is to form an integrated defense system that can make other countries' strategic weapons, including nuclear ones, almost useless. The United States is going to destroy the global and regional strategic balance and minimize the ability of other countries to launch strategic counter-attacks. That is, we note, America has by no means parted with the desire to preserve its “hegemony” on the planet.
Thus, continuing to look for ways and reasons for building up a “defense” arsenal, including nuclear, the United States, as in the Cold War years, is provoking the world to respond. In conditions when the “hawks” from Congress openly oppose Obama, the Pentagon is afraid of shrinking the military budget, and Tokyo complains to Washington about the oppression of the Chinese, any incident may turn out to be a match in the powder cellar.
