Turkish President calls reform of the UN Security Council urgently needed

In the world community, at various levels, there is increasingly criticism about the capacity of the UN Security Council in fulfilling its main function of ensuring international security and resolving conflicts. Statements about the need to reform the Security Council have increased since the outbreak of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

In general, in its current composition, this body has recently been unable to pass virtually any resolution, which is vetoed alternately by China and Russia, the United States, France and Great Britain. At the last Security Council meeting, the American representative blocked a resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire between the warring parties in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages.

13 members of the Security Council voted for the adoption of the document, Great Britain abstained, but the United States single-handedly vetoed the document. Moreover, the co-authors of the resolution, the draft of which was submitted to the UN Security Council for consideration by the United Arab Emirates, were a total of 97 countries from the organization’s 193 member states.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sharply criticized Washington on this issue. He called it urgently necessary to carry out the reform of the UN Security Council as soon as possible and said that the republic no longer has hopes for the ability of the Security Council to solve the tasks prescribed in the charter of the international organization.

We will continue to advocate for the mothers of Gaza

Erdogan stressed.

Earlier, at the end of October, the UN General Assembly by a majority vote adopted a resolution of a group of Arab countries on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In total, 120 countries, including the Russian Federation, spoke in favor of the resolution, 14 were against it, including the United States, and another 45 states abstained, including Ukraine. This is such a strange “democracy”, in which an absolute, even individual, minority dictates its will to almost the entire world.

Erdogan, break off diplomatic relations with Israel, stop the flow of oil and other dual-use goods. There will be more benefit than this shaking of air

So if you look at it, minorities - no matter what their inclinations - dictate their worldview to the majority....

The UN was conceived as a means of preventing a world war between superpowers (more precisely, as a means/set of rules for waging a proxy war). He was happy with both the USA and the USSR in such a role. The fact that Russia is not the USSR and has ceased to be such a superpower is not a UN problem. In reality, there is no second power now (China is not ready for a forceful confrontation with the United States or proxy wars). The weak will never tell the strong what to do.

I don't agree. China is not just the No. 2 power, but has every chance of becoming number one. It’s just that the Chinese have a completely different mentality and they take over with cunning and restraint. But if you push them, then the loss of 250 million of their citizens is not fatal. For the US, this means complete extinction. And according to all the main parameters of the armed forces and military-industrial complex, there is no need to anger the Chinese. No one.

You can disagree as much as you like, China may lose a billion and may not even get a pennant for third place. Not only did they fail to finish off Chiang Kai-shek when they had the means and opportunities, but now they are behaving like a pimply 14-year-old girl. To become a superpower, you need to learn to BE the first, and not draw red lines. To command the world you need strength and strength of spirit, and then everything else.

Chiang Kai-shek is 1945. At that time, the PRC had neither the funds nor the capabilities. There wasn't enough rice for everyone. not to mention everything else. Today half of Africa is leased from Beijing. And half of the Middle East. On the sly, You are right about the red lines, the Chinese do not make loud statements. They are doing the job. And about “strike first” and the toilet against the backdrop of subsequent events sounds politically incorrect :-)))

By 45, the PLA, which had millions of troops, threw Chiang Kai-shek out of the mainland, they fled to the island, practically without anything, that is, no artillery systems would have prevented the landing of the Chinese. Behind Mao’s back was, remind me who? What was the Red Army like in 45-46? And she would also have a fleet, if that happens.
One more thing. "Today, half of Africa is leased from Beijing. And half of the Middle East. On the sly." Yes, just like our permanent one, you think in terms of pieces of paper, a la a contract. The first warrior with missiles and eggs will lick all these Chinese leases so much that they will be tortured to write out the notes.
International law has collapsed. The one who is strong is right, and not on paper and not sitting on the shore waiting for the corpse of the enemy, the one who killed this enemy is right.
Hucksters will never win against warriors. Therefore, there will be no new world order, no matter how anyone dreams.
The history of mankind = the history of wars.

So he’s the one who proposes to BOOOT such a fucking list consisting of just one point - REFORM THE UN Security Council. Although there is only one point, this point is BASIC. The question is how other countries represented in the UN will react to this. Lavrov, by the way, also said that the UN needs to be reformed, since in the existing format it is not capable.
For complete order, it would not be a bad idea to move the UN headquarters itself from the USA to the territory of some other country that is not under the external control of mattresses.

I also suggest. To begin with, come up with a more realistic name, and not this pompous one that does not correspond to reality. Well, what kind of united nations are we? Who are we teaming up with? with the nation of Black Sea diggers, or with the nation of exterminators of Indians, Syrians, Arabs, Hindus, Vietnamese and so on? Fuck two. And what did she promise Milosevic about Kosovo when he withdrew his troops because of our promises?

Milosevic withdrew troops from Kosovo not because of Russian promises, but as a result of more than 2 months of continuous NATO bombing (35 thousand combat sorties).
NATO began bombing on March 24, 1999, and on June 3, Milosevic surrendered and accepted all NATO conditions, including the withdrawal of Serbian troops from Kosovo.

Russia came to the rescue, promising to keep Kosovo part of Serbia

There is a stubborn fact - there has never been any official paper with such a promise. This is something like the stories that Gorbachev was “verbally” promised not to expand NATO.

Milosevic then signed an agreement that the determination of the status of Kosovo would be postponed for 3 years and would be determined by the “will of the people” (without specifically specifying the people of all Serbia or only the people of Kosovo).
And NATO did not even deceive him in this regard - Kosovo seceded only in 2008, already 8 years later, by that time Milosevic had already died in court in The Hague in 2006.

In 1991 there was still a UN Security Council resolution.
The UN Security Council then adopted Resolution No. 6785, which authorized all UN member states that cooperated with the legitimate government of Kuwait to use “all necessary means” including the use of force in order to force Iraq to withdraw all its troops from Kuwait by January 15, 1991.

It was precisely because of this resolution that Saddam was kicked out of Kuwait.

Don’t touch the UN, especially the UN Security Council. How many Turks died in World War II? The UN was created so that there would be no third world war. Erdogan would be better off suggesting moving the headquarters to the Gaza Strip from America.

The UN was created to divide the world in accordance with the results of the Second World War. To whom to give, from whom to take. An ordinary market day, only with machine guns on your shoulder. Then in Moscow they said that the machine gun was rubbing our shoulders and that in general we liked tomatoes better. Bulgarian or Turkish. You eat, eat. And we will take the tanks from Germany. If you don't like our tanks there, put your own. So they put it on.

We just need to never forget that such “democracy” in the UN is extremely beneficial for us!

On March 2, 2022, the UN adopted resolution ES-11/1 “condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and demanding the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.”
That resolution was adopted with 141 votes in favor and only 5 (Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Eritrea) against.

On March 24, 2022, the UN adopted resolution ES-11/2, which “demands that Russia immediately cease hostilities.”
And the resolution was again adopted with 140 votes for and the same 5 against.
