I would like, looking up at the Russian sky, see more often MI-8AMTSH flying overhead and other deeply modernized machines.
So far it is, nevertheless, a rare "bird" in the Russian sky.

However, MI-8 "veterans" fly from the nearest airfield on combat missions to the mountains and return back just like that. And for educational purposes, too, over their heads.

I don’t know what kind of modification of the helicopter, but they fly constantly, in large numbers every day, day and night. Krasnodar military airfield. I live in such a way that they take off right above the house and go off to land, it’s very cool to lie in the bed with my wife in the early morning, enjoy the sunset and get used to not shuddering when a transport plane or a jets fly right at us, although once when the MI-26 flew it was scary, not only was the vibration buzzing, it’s also such a whopper brrr .... !!! good =))))

        Seryoga. Absolutely good !
I’ll only add a little ... earlier (when the earth was flat and stood on 3 pillars wassat ).those. when everything was simple and clear, then there were two versions of the Mi-8-domestic market. Mi-17-over the hill, but Mi-171 (172) were originally machines for citizens (they featured square windows, soundproofing the cabin and the presence of a vibration damper).

When UUVZ mastered the production of interchangeable LNVs and received technical documentation for the Mi-8MTV helicopter. then the Mi-8AT, AMT, AMTSh machine "was born", and the index 171 was assigned to ... zabugornye (171A1,171SH, 171E, 171B, etc.).
Yes, and the first VMA MTVs have already gone to the Kazan MTV-ki and to the 171 and by the "special" order for the AMT-ki.

SPARK (St. Petersburg) and the Tyumen ARZ are engaged in "alterations", Saratov also did it before (I don't know now).

Well, "rich" companies like GazpromAvia, Surgut, Vertiali only without T) take 2,3, and 5s from the factory, but mostly without "glass" (expensive !!), install a meteorological locator, additional tanks and ..for happiness! fellow Even SLO "Russia" and that ... "saved" bully

So, for clarification, Mi-8 and Mi-17 (MT) are different types of helicopters.
The Mi-8 helicopter is equipped with TV2-117 engines, a VR-8 gearbox, the tail rotor is located on the right side and it is of a slightly different design (PB blades, the profile is different). There are some other differences, in particular, the main power system here is direct current. As for the Mi-17, this is the foreign version of the Mi-8MT, and you are absolutely right about the MI-171, Mi-8AMTS, Mi-8AMT; according to all parameters and normative documents, this is a modernization of the MI-8MT helicopter, and in the USSR it would be like that was, but after 1991, it was necessary to save the U-UAZ and there was a purely economic decision to declare the Mi-8MTV manufactured by U-UAZ by the MI-8AMT helicopter making it a new type. It is because of this garbage that there is a partial competition between U-UAZ and KVZ helicopters among themselves, although the UK Criminal Code is trying to dampen this somewhat by evenly distributing orders between plants. In short, like that. In fact, the basis of all these machines is the MI-8MTV of 1988 development with TV3-117VM (A) engines. VMA engines for MTV, AMT are overshoot in VM, the gearbox under them is rather weak. VMA is an engine for MI-24.

Good afternoon, Sergei, the turntables are really the same. We had a pair of MI 17-Ulan-Ude, Mi-8 Kazan. The Mi-8 stood at my resource, "17th" was on duty at one time, and so when the deadline for crew checks approached, I had to go through everything else and on the Mi-8, because according to all the governing documents, MI-17 helicopters do not exist in Russia. This continued for four years until I changed, after paying in advance, the MI-17 documents for the Mi-8. as it should be. So even if everything is the same "inside and outside", the cars for officials are completely different ...

Nice interview, but a lot of stereotypes present as always
It is curious that, according to Nellis, the Russians specially developed a modification of the Mi-8MTV with TV3-117ВМ engines for operations in Afghanistan. It can be argued that this is still the best helicopter in the world in its class for operations in high mountain areas. Indeed, no Western helicopter in this weight class can act as effectively.

No, this is really so. The engine power of the TV3-117MT (MI-8MT) was not enough in the DRA conditions, like the TV3-117 3 series; for 24, VMs and VMAs appeared. And in 1991, TV7-117 was supposed to appear, but it did not work out.

By the way, yesterday we talked about An-70, talked, but today’s information:

January 16, AEX.RU - The Russian Ministry of Defense has determined the range of aircraft ordered for military transport aircraft, reports Lenta.ru.

According to the decision, the resumption of production of the An-124-300 Ruslan transport aircraft was deemed inexpedient. Nevertheless, work on the existing aircraft will continue.

In particular, the Ulyanovsk enterprise "Aviastar" until the end of 2014 will be engaged in the repair of the Ruslans in service with Russia, and then - the modernization of these aircraft to the An-124-150M version.

In 2010, the Russian Ministry of Defense supported the resumption of production of Ruslans, including the purchase of such aircraft in the state armaments program for 2011-2020. What is the reason for the change of decision is still unknown.

In Russia, the production of Ruslans was stopped in the mid-1990s after the military department recognized it as inexpedient. Later, it was nevertheless decided to return to the construction of such aircraft in Russia.

At the end of 2009, Dmitry Medvedev, then the president of Russia, instructed the government to provide for the purchase of 20 Ruslans for the military. The purchase price was estimated at $ 4 billion.

Meanwhile, at a meeting held at the end of December 2012, the Russian Ministry of Defense made a decision to purchase other military transport aircraft. In particular, the contract for the construction of 39 Il-476 (Il-76MD-90A) transport aircraft for 140 billion rubles at Aviastar and the supply to the military was upheld.

In addition, the military department announced the need to create a light transport aircraft, but suggested that the KLA did not proceed with the immediate resumption of the IL-112 project and, instead, finalize its proposal. According to the Ministry of Defense, the military’s need for aircraft of the Il-112 type is 55 units, the FSB - 26 units, the Ministry of Internal Affairs - ten units and the Federal Space Agency - ten units.

The Ministry of Defense also did not reject the project to create a cargo version of the passenger An-140; the military transport version of such an aircraft will receive the An-140T index. Finally, the decision to purchase new Ukrainian An-70 transporters will be made after testing is completed. At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense will only finance the completion of the second An-70 flight model and its testing.

So, that on the An-70 is still written with a pitchfork on water. May refer to unsatisfactory results. tests and ....

Normal spin of budget attendants! The market wins everything, the Gaidar business is "blooming" and getting stronger !!! Well, a full 3,14 here!

Interested yes, but .. for what purpose ???? And in order to transport 2 around the world "foreign" equipment and "cut down" the dough ...

In December 2012, Germany relocated the first four Eurocopter Tiger combat helicopters to Afghanistan, flightglobal.com reported January 4. Helicopters deployed at the Mazar-e-Sharif air base.

The first two Tigers were flown on December 14 by An-124 Volga-Dnepr aircraft from Leipzig Airport, the second pair arrived a week later.

The French "Volga-Dnepr" (the same helicopters) delivered in mid-2009

For me, it’s quite a worthy goal, and secondly it would ensure the loading of production capacities and, as a result, the preservation of specialists and technologies.

Sergey, take a look at the news. I understand that three more cars will be delivered. Then there were misunderstandings by quantity.

In 2013, significant progress should be made in the program of the fifth generation fighter PAK FA. On the eve of the New Year, Lieutenant General Viktor Bondarev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force, said that in March 2013 the state tests of the PAK FA will begin in the GLITs in Akhtubinsk and by the end of the year eight cars will be involved in state tests there

Mi-8 series AMT, MTV, MT also differ from the inside in completely different electrical equipment. Series 172 has a rear ramp, the ramp opens both from the electric motor and manually. it is convenient to boot, but also makes the car heavier. Of the bells and whistles, mention should be made of the ROM (a dustproof device at the inlet of the air flow into the engine, but in the summer it eats up to 600 kg of take-off weight by dvu-thrust. They put additional tanks for jet fuel at the top, freeing them interior, by the way, tail rotor on Mi-8 and modifications from different sides. Radar equipment is different. In general, completely different machines.
