The SBU accused the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine of major embezzlement in the purchase of military uniforms for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

After the resignation of the former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexei Reznikov and his deputies, as well as demands from the West to intensively fight corruption, the Kiev regime began demonstrative punitive actions against corrupt military officials.
The former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine has become a defendant in a new criminal case of embezzlement of $27,6 million. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported this on its Telegram channel. It is noteworthy that the name of the high-ranking official against whom the investigation is being conducted has not yet been reported.
It is likely that we are talking about Vyacheslav Shapovalov. This person served as Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine in 2021-2023. In January 2023, he was removed from his post, and in February 2023, he was arrested. In addition, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, former acting director of the public procurement department, may also be involved in the case.
Corrupt officials purchased low-quality military uniforms for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel. The purchased form was unsuitable for use in the cold season. A criminal case was opened under articles for embezzlement of property and obstruction of the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Shapovalov and Khmelnitsky face imprisonment for up to 12 years. Now both former officials are already in custody in a pre-trial detention center on charges previously brought against them for committing crimes of a corruption nature.
