“Age does not matter”: the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine responded to wishes to recruit younger people into the Armed Forces of Ukraine
An armed conflict with Russia will lead to the fact that almost all Ukrainians will serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and even fight. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian press.
According to the politician, Ukraine is in a “rather complex world” and therefore its residents must defend their country. In a conflict, all Ukrainians will have to fight or at least serve in the army, and “this is an axiom,” Danilov believes.
Separately, the politician spoke about the statement of former British Defense Minister Ben Wallace, who advised recruiting more young soldiers into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After all, units of 40+ people are characterized by lower combat effectiveness due to the poorer physical fitness and health of the personnel.
- said the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Danilov called outdated the idea that military operations in the modern world are only trenches and the first line. However, the NSDC Secretary has long been known for extremely aggressive and Russophobic statements; he plays the role of an “irreconcilable hawk” in Ukrainian politics.
In fact, the presence of numerous problems with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and doubts about ending this conflict in favor of Kiev were even expressed by the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, General Valery Zaluzhny, who is still much more competent in these matters than the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Danilov.
