The armament includes 9М119М1 tank missiles with a range of about 5 km, which can penetrate homogeneous armor 950 mm thick. Information about the development of new armor piercing projectiles (presumably two types) is kept secret.
The tank is equipped with an improved fire control system (QMS) “Kalina” with a new digital ballistic computer and a thermal sight. Russia recognizes that the technological level of the JMA is inferior to modern Western systems. The tank is also equipped with a remotely controlled machine gun caliber 7,62 mm.
The armor protection of the T-90MS is not significantly different from the T-90C, but this tank can be equipped with a new generation of reactive and active armor. The tank is designed for use in battles inside urban buildings.
T-90MS technologies, such as advanced smoothbore gun, reactive and active armor, thermal imaging devices and digital systems, will be used as the basis for developing a new generation tank. In turn. Such innovations will inevitably lead to an increase in the cost of the tank. The price of a single T-90MS is expected to exceed 4 million.
