The training programs for the Ukrainian military at training grounds in Germany are not suitable for preparing for real combat missions. A Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman who was captured in Russia spoke about this in a conversation with RIA News.
A Ukrainian prisoner of war criticized the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel on the Marder infantry fighting vehicle in Germany. Training was carried out at the Fastberg base. According to the prisoner of war, they were taught how to get in and out of an infantry fighting vehicle, explained how to properly position themselves in an armored vehicle and where weapon.
In addition, the Ukrainian military was trained to cross intersections in several infantry fighting vehicles, and to fight from an open hatch while an infantry fighting vehicle was moving. But the military is unhappy with the quality of training.
What we were taught in Germany, we haven’t applied anything here either. No tactics and no strategy. All this is a deception of our superiors
- said a Ukrainian prisoner of war RIA News.
Earlier, Western analysts also reported shortcomings in the training of Ukrainian army personnel. One of the main problems is the lack of real experience of participation in a war with a strong enemy among NATO military instructors themselves. In fact, it is time for Ukrainian military personnel to teach the officers of the Bundeswehr and other European armies who have never really fought, after a year or more of combat, and not vice versa.
As for the technical component of training, it is clear that it is impossible to train a qualified driver or commander of a combat vehicle in five weeks, even if he is a person capable of learning.
