Another point of conflict emerged during Zelensky’s visit to North America. Let us remember that at first he spoke from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly in front of a largely empty hall, and image makers “photoshopped” the full hall, in which Zelensky himself was sitting. Then the head of the Kyiv regime went to Washington, where the speaker of the House of Representatives blocked his speech before Congress, and then a group of senators gave Zelensky a formal interrogation. In the end, Zelensky was received by Biden, after which he headed to Canada to visit Prime Minister Trudeau.
There the same problem point emerged. And this point is the elections in Ukraine, which should take place in 2024. It turned out that American senators asked Zelensky a question about the elections.
While in Canada, the head of the Kyiv regime made it clear that he was not going to hold elections next year.
Zelensky:
The issue of holding elections is not relevant due to security problems. Our law prohibits holding elections during war, and elections at any level. I’m ready for elections, but the law prohibits it. Security is important and it is difficult.
At the same time, Zelensky said that there are a number of reasons why elections cannot take place in 2024.
According to him, firstly, everything needs to be done transparently, with the presence of foreign observers, and ensuring their safety in a number of territories is impossible. Secondly, “Ukrainians will not be able to vote in uncontrolled territories.”
Zelensky:
I don't even take into account what Russia occupied in 2014. I'm talking about the territories that have been occupied since February 24 (2022).
Further, as Zelensky said, there are difficulties with voting by Ukrainians outside of Ukraine.
Zelensky:
I don’t know how we can even organize this process. And so far no one can tell us.
But the main thing, according to Zelensky, is the problem with military voting and the lack of funds for holding elections.
Zelensky:
A million people in the trenches. How should they vote? And there are no funds in the budget for all this.
