The Ministry of Defense has begun negotiations on the possible purchase of unmanned boats for the Russian fleet

The Ministry of Defense is considering the possibility of purchasing for the Russian fleet offshore unmanned boats developed by KMZ holding. This was announced by KMZ Managing Director Mikhail Danilenko.

KMZ (Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant) proposed to the military department a series of universal naval drones, created on the Vizir type platform. Today, the parties are holding negotiations; the military does not rule out the purchase of unmanned boats for the Russian Navy.

We are now negotiating with the Ministry of Defense about the purchase of Vizir, clarifying the technical specifications, discussing its modifications depending on the interest of the military department

- leads RIA News Danilenko's words.

As previously reported, the unmanned boat developed by KMZ is universal and can be used to perform various tasks. It has a cruising range of 600 km at low speeds; as the speed increases, the cruising range decreases, but it is possible to accelerate the boat to 80 km/h. Armament or other equipment necessary for installation on the boat is selected by the customer. In the strike version, the boat can carry a combat module with a heavy machine gun or light missiles.

It is also possible to make a marine kamikaze drone on the basis of this boat. To do this, it is only necessary to reduce the body; the holding already has developments in this direction.

It can be simplified, that is, made smaller, filled with explosives and sent to the target. Its payload is now about 500 kilograms with very good maneuverability and seaworthiness. The body itself is made of fiberglass

- added the representative of KMZ.

Just place such boats along the coast and let them control the water area. Also equip them with sonars for semi-submersible purposes

But this needs to be done very quickly, without this bureaucratic inertia: discussion, agreement, road map, etc. Decision makers know each other and industry professionals. In war conditions, they must quickly call each other, decide and move forward.

Taking into account the fact that we do not have a satellite communication system similar to Starlink, we will sail the old fashioned way. If you attack a stationary object using coordinates, it may work, but attacking moving targets with machine guns and missiles...

what Then maybe it’s not an unmanned boat (kamikaze), but an ekranoplan? Speed is a useful thing...
And in general, it may be cheaper to finish the anti-ship missiles in order to “press” them to the surface.?

The ekranoplan is effective at large sizes.
Large size - high cost, good target.
Drones are good when they are small; large and expensive drones do not enter the enemy’s effective defense zone (and those that did enter fell into enemy hands)

Not before the drivers in the city are forced out. Do you even understand that traffic rules are an elementarily algorithmic thing, but NOWHERE in the world have workers been able to actually make unmanned trams or trains running on rails?! Because an algorithm is an algorithm, but human participation is simply necessary in life, otherwise it will all end in a bunch of accidents and transport paralysis?!
And you tell how someone will be replaced on the battlefield, when the main thing is who will outwit whom and work successfully not according to the algorithm... And how you don’t get tired of saying such nonsense.

What does the Russian Federation have to do with it?
              I'm talking about the USA.
The Russian Federation lags behind the United States in terms of robotization and automation.
In the USA, even in agriculture, robots are already harvesting bell peppers.
As for robotaxis, they are quite common in the USA, not everywhere, but they are available.
In the UAE, trains are already running entirely on AI.

You ask strange questions. For example, anti-submarine helicopters deploy buoys to detect enemy submarines. These same buoys on drones do not need to be scattered and then collected. They can independently move to the desired area and then return. No one has yet canceled reconnaissance missions.

When you go to a store, for example, to buy bread, do you grab the first one you come across or look at the price, timing, type, etc.?
