The new Minister of Defense of Ukraine announced a lack of funds for payments to military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Currently, the state budget of Ukraine is experiencing a huge deficit of funds intended for payments to the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the end of 2023. Rustem Umerov, recently appointed as the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine, announced this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Previously, Umerov headed the State Property Fund of Ukraine. Probably, he decided to start working in a new position with the usual calculation of available funds. But the "legacy" of his predecessor Alexei Reznikov hardly pleased him.
The shortage of funds for payments to military personnel is forcing the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to ask the Verkhovna Rada to amend the state budget for 2023. The cost of payments to the military should be increased by 251 billion hryvnia, the new head of the military department stressed.
According to Umerov, 227 billion hryvnias will be used to pay monetary allowances for October-December 2023, and 24 billion hryvnias will be used for one-time financial assistance to servicemen and their families. In turn, the government of Ukraine is preparing a bill to allocate more than 300 billion hryvnia for payments to the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Probably, after the resignation of Reznikov, "famous" for corruption scandals, the Kiev regime decided to restore order in the military department a little. This is also demanded by the West, dejected by the colossal embezzlement and alarmed by the declining motivation of the Ukrainian military.
Another question is that the resignation of one Reznikov and his deputies is unlikely to change the entire model of functioning of the modern Ukrainian military department, and Umerov is not from a “parallel universe”, but was brought up in the same corrupt post-Soviet Ukrainian political culture.
