Politico: U.S. Attorney's Office Will Soon Charge U.S. President's Son with Illegal Weapon Possession
US Attorney's Office intends by the end of September to charge US President's son Hunter Biden with illegal possession weapons, Politico reports, citing court documents.
So, according to data available to the American publication, Biden Jr. will be charged in Delaware on a criminal offense in connection with his purchase of weapons in October 2018.
In presenting the case file, Attorney Leo Wise pointed to the deadlines that the federal government must meet under US law. Thus, the corresponding charge against the son of the head of the American state should be brought no later than September 29th.
It is worth noting that earlier Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to tax evasion, deciding to cooperate with the investigation in the case of illegal possession of weapons. Ultimately, however, he refused to sign the corresponding agreement with the court. As for the investigation into other possible offenses on his part, it continues by US investigative authorities.
It would not be amiss to mention in this context a letter addressed not long ago by 3 chairmen of the committees (the Judiciary Committee, the Oversight and Accountability Committee and the Ways and Means Committee) of the House of Representatives from the Republican Party to the Attorney General of the United States, Merrick Garland. In their message, American lawmakers demanded information about how the investigation into Hunter Biden is progressing. In particular, members of Congress questioned why the appointment of prosecutor David Weiss as a special counsel in the investigation occurred precisely after the judge rejected his (Biden Jr.) plea deal.
