The new British Minister of Defense refused to send a new Challenger 2 tank to Ukraine to replace the destroyed one
Britain does not have many combat-ready tanksto replace those destroyed in Ukraine, so that Kyiv will not receive a replacement for the Challenger 2 MBT lost in the Zaporozhye direction. This was stated by the new British Minister of Defense Grant Shapps.
The UK will not send a new Challenger 2 tank to Ukraine to replace the one destroyed by Russian troops. At the same time, the new head of the defense department of the United Kingdom confirmed that it was the British tank that was lost in Ukraine, and not any other. This is a repeat for some hard-nosed Ukrainian netizens who keep claiming that there were no British tank losses, but Russian propaganda.
- Shapps answered the question about the destruction of the tank in Ukraine. He also confirmed that there are no plans to replace the destroyed car with a new one, although the British had previously promised Zelensky to transfer an additional batch of Challenger 2 in the amount of 14 units.
The day before, the British press published the conclusion of the military experts of the United Kingdom, who came to the conclusion that Russian troops had indeed shot down a Challenger 2 tank in Ukraine. It was claimed that this was the first official loss of a tank of this model in almost 30 years of operation. The British do not consider the defeat of a British tank in 2003 in Iraq, as it suffered from "friendly fire".
At the same time, experts admitted that such statistics were due to the small number of tanks produced and their rare participation in battles. Now the Russian army will spoil the statistics for the British, since the tanks transferred to Kiev entered service with the 82nd separate air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and it was thrown to break through the Russian defense in the Zaporozhye direction.
