Music is eternal. The orchestra must play. Once again about PMC "Wagner"
Don’t you find it strange that the interest in the personality of Yevgeny Prigozhin that arose after his death? It is clear that Yevgeny Prigozhin is an extraordinary, interesting person with a difficult fate. A man who destroyed many stereotypes in our minds. For many, it was a revelation that some “private owner” could have his own opinion, different from the opinion of those in power.
I’m not saying that the death of a person is something ordinary for war. No, the death of a general, and Prigozhin, of course, is a general for his soldiers, this is really a crime or a serious operation of the special services. The investigation will be meticulous and the perpetrators or perpetrators will be found. I don’t think that only the Investigative Committee and the Russian intelligence services will be looking. PMCs also have good specialists on their staff.
I mean that along with Prigozhin, people no less significant for the PMC died. Those who were little visible on screens, on the Internet or in the press. Those who made decisions on the battlefield in those countries where Wagner appeared. Those who were responsible for the real areas of the company's activities. Those who had some connections, some contacts, etc.
I did not have to deal with PMC structures personally. But I can imagine how it works. And many readers too. The same Utkin-“Wagner” is a completely unfamiliar face for most PMC employees, not to mention ordinary people. Probably, many remember the video when Utkin spoke to his fighters for the first time after leaving Artemovsk.
Remember the evening, the formation of fighters on a dimly lit field and the commander who began his speech with the words: “Hello, I am that same Utkin-“Wagner”... Everyone knew about him, and most did not know. A man-legend, a man-mirage, a man-shadow... A non-media person. A military worker for whom the work is important, and not what they say about it.
Exactly the same can be said about those who were next to them during the plane crash... And about those who took command of the PMC today. Of course, the option of losing one of the PMC commanders was considered and thought through. Therefore, it seems to me that the question of who will lead the company’s divisions and in what position is not on the agenda.
Play your game on the bones of the dead
I didn’t want to write about this, but if I already started, then... I think those who closely monitor the Internet have noticed how the number of channels allegedly associated with the Wagner PMC has grown. Literally every day one of their “musicians” opens another “closed channel” supposedly “for their own people.” The number of Prigozhin’s letters, “last” speeches and other nonsense is simply amazing.
I even feel sorry for the family of Evgeniy Viktorovich and his fighting friends. How much scum pops up after such tragic events. It just gets to the point of insanity. Remember the Alyosha tank and its crew, which Putin personally awarded? Yesterday I heard "the closed part of the operator's negotiations drone and tankers."
You probably already guessed that it was “Prigozhin personally” who admonished the tankers for battle! Well, he lacks the nation's well-deserved fame. Some bastard is helping to “finish the biography” of the hero. But, if you carefully read what is published on the Internet, the purpose of all these stuffing becomes clear.
The dead Prigogine must continue what the living Prigogine abandoned. All these lies are designed to make inadequate people believe that the “musicians” are supposedly defenders of another Motherland, another state. Their Russia has nothing to do with Putin and the state that was created.
They are for another Russia... True, no one deciphers which one. Simply because for musicians, as well as for soldiers and officers of the Russian Defense Ministry participating in the Northern Military District, there is no other Russia. They sat in the same trenches, beat the same enemy... And they lost comrades, healed their wounds, received awards side by side and together...
PMCs need to be reorganized and turned into...
A special topic that they are also trying to disperse today is the reorganization of PMCs. I already wrote above that, most likely, the option of quickly replacing retired commanders has probably been worked out in the company. But the topic still comes up almost every day, in one version or another. And not only in Russia and Ukraine, but also in the West.
A completely logical question arises: why? I will express my own opinion. Each reader has the right to decide for himself whether it is correct or not. Many readers remember my position on the issue of conscripting prisoners into PMCs. I thought and still think that this was a last resort. Unacceptable for the Air Force. But in PMCs, as it turned out, it is quite possible and effective.
And the fact that among those amnestied there would be those who would return to crime was clear from the very beginning. In such matters there is no XNUMX% result. It is also clear that after graduation, some of the participants will probably join the ranks of crime.
Several versions of events related to musicians are being promoted quite actively today. Let's start with the radical ones.
The version most often prevails among military personnel of the “old formation.” Dissolve the PMC. Employees are either contracted to the army and other law enforcement agencies, or, as they once said, to the national economy.
It seems clear to me why this version is quite popular.
Firstly, and most importantly, it seems to me, this is an attempt at rebellion. No matter how hard the authorities and the media tried to hush up the fact of this attempt, it happened. And thanks, among other things, to the fallen PMC commanders for quickly resolving the issue and stopping the rebellion.
Secondly, the military really doesn’t like it when someone meddles in their affairs. When decisions of commanders and superiors are criticized. Alas, the leadership of the PMC, represented by Yevgeny Prigozhin, was constantly doing this. To be honest, sometimes it was unpleasant to see the clearly far-fetched claims of musicians. Especially against the backdrop of exactly the same problems among army units.
Well, thirdly. Experience of the Great Patriotic War... Be that as it may, the army is waging the war. And no one can cancel the control system in the army during war. The inferior carries out the orders of the superior. This is the law. Do it, and then report to the command about your disagreement with the order. Even the partisans in those days followed orders from the headquarters of the partisan movement...
Well, the commander is not obliged to explain to his subordinates the reasons why they should act this way. The old bearded joke about aluminum and cast iron, which has been laughed at by many generations of civilians, has saved lives and ensured the completion of combat missions many times...
In my opinion, this idea has one important drawback. And the military knows this very well. PMCs were not initially designed to perform tasks within the country. The company was created to work in other regions of the world. And the fact that the musicians appeared in the zone where the SVO is being held is precisely due to the miscalculations of our army commanders and the lack of personnel at the front.
“Private traders” plugged holes where the army and specialists could not do this for various reasons. In many ways, it was the heroism of the musicians that made it possible to stabilize the LBS. It was they who took over many units and formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. And for those who think that this is not so, I advise you to look at the awards of musicians. For state awards! And on the results of their work.
The next version of the development of events is the subordination of units of PMCs to the RF Ministry of Defense or, due to a change in the location of units, to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus. The version is weak from the start. What do we get in this case? Theoretically, such a decision will replenish the MTR of Russia or Belarus. But practically?
The PMC personnel, the backbone that worked in Africa and Syria, are people who left the army for some reason. Those who were once “not suitable” for service and were forced to leave. They learned a lot during their time at the company. They turned pro. But the resentment remained. And rejection of many things that exist in the army, too.
Those readers who keep in touch with former LDPR militias know how many doubts they had during the period of transferring units and divisions of the corps to the subordination of the RF Ministry of Defense. Many really wanted to go to Wagner. Precisely because the model for the formation of republican corps was closer to the system for the formation of musicians.
PMCs were created by smart people who understood what they were for
In general, if we discard all philosophical and other abstruse reasoning, we should understand that those people who created this structure were not fools at all. The scheme is thought out to the smallest detail. Of course, today we can say that in many ways Wagner copies the structure of American PMCs. Is it bad to use the enemy’s experience?
By and large, private companies have long become an instrument of foreign policy for all the leading states of the world. They exist and play a fairly important role in the foreign policy of world powers. Yes, the management schemes for these companies differ in different countries. Yes, interaction with the state varies among different PMCs. But they all fulfill the tasks set, among other things, by the state.
It’s probably worth opening up a little bit about these very schemes of interaction with the state.
Let's start with... PMC "Wagner". Whatever we say about this company, it is a purely commercial organization that was created to provide services to those who order them. It was not for nothing that I said above that this is an American scheme. The Americans were the first to create PMCs, and precisely according to this scheme.
There are other options. Particularly in Iran. You shouldn't be surprised. Iranian PMCs are companies created from foreign fighters, in particular from Afghan Hazaras, who are completely controlled and supervised by the IRGC. Accordingly, the main customers for these PMCs are the IRGC.
Another option, which I think is not very successful, is the PMC of the People's Republic of China. The Chinese are quite limited ideologically, so Chinese PMCs do not have the same “freedoms” as others. In fact, Chinese PMCs are part of the PRC army, part of the PLA. Interaction with private commercial structures is minimal there.
PMC "Wagner" must be preserved. Keep it exactly with the structure that exists today. The company is not legally Russian. “Offshore”, like many other global PMCs. The company concludes contracts directly, bypassing Moscow. Which is also important. And the company’s authority in the countries where they operate is quite high... There’s no need to talk about the quality of tasks performed.
If you dig a little deeper, musicians are perfect for fulfilling the tasks set by the Russian President, for example, in relation to African countries. Let me remind you that President Putin is not talking about seizing African countries and establishing control over them, but about peace in these states. Peace as the basis of economic cooperation. Not “divide and conquer”, but “unite and cooperate”.
Now about the unpleasant.
About what happened before the eyes of the whole world for quite a long time and is happening today. About the confrontation between PMCs and the Moscow Region. I don’t want to delve into this topic, but I know about the voyage of Deputy Defense Minister General Yevkurov to Syria and Libya, and then to Africa.
I don’t want to say anything, it’s just that for some reason the route goes exactly where the orchestra is giving concerts... Again, purely philosophically, why does an authoritative general “fight terrorism” (and this is the official purpose of visits) where musicians are doing this? And why, after a meeting with General Yevkurov, Syrian Defense Minister Abbas demanded that the musicians be removed from Syria by September 20?
The orchestra must play
It is very difficult to write about PMCs at a time when a tragedy of such magnitude occurs within this company. The campaign to reform the Wagner PMC began a long time ago, immediately after the attempted rebellion. Everyone understood perfectly well that after this attempt, many of the “goodies” that the musicians received from the Russian government would disappear. The company seriously damaged relations with the Russian authorities.
The PMC management actively worked to reorganize the company and adapt it to new conditions. The disaster, I will call it that until the end of the investigation, complicated the situation. Many contacts that existed between the commanders of the musicians and officials not only of our country, but of those countries where the PMC is present, have been cut off.
The new commander of Wagner today, again, if we put aside “philosophy,” is obliged to recreate the company. In what form this will be decided by the orchestra command. In what structure – too. The main task is to preserve personnel and units. Well, and, if possible, equipment and weapons. PMC "Wagner" is today a global brand that is quite expensive.
It is very important that our management does not lose interest in this company. Breaking is not building. Breaking is fast, building is long. I repeat, in the modern world, PMCs are quite an effective instrument of foreign policy. A tool that helps solve not only political but also economic issues. We managed to create a good “tool”. Refusing it is stupid and even criminal.
The orchestra must play!..
Music is eternal and if our orchestra does not play, we will soon hear other people's orchestras...
