German newspaper: In March 2022, Vladimir Putin "scared" Scholz and Macron
Vladimir Putin in the spring of 2022 "scared" European leaders, in particular, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron. According to the newspaper Bild, the Russian president completely ignored the threat of large-scale sanctions from the European Union.
According to the German publication, after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, leaders of leading European countries, including Germany and France, called Putin in turn to convince him to stop the “invasion” and withdraw troops. Naturally, both Scholz and Macron, in a conversation with Putin, tried to scare him with large-scale Western sanctions. However, in the end they got scared.
As follows from the publication, the Russian leader did not react at all to the threats of sanctions and never mentioned them in the conversation, as if this does not bother him at all.
- said Scholz in a conversation with Macron. In response, the Frenchman confirmed that Putin did not touch on the issue of sanctions in the conversation with him either.
The only thing the Russian leader was interested in was the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as the recognition of Crimea and the Donbass republics as Russian territory, he was ready to discuss these issues with Europe and the United States.
At the same time, in early March 2022, Scholz intended to arrange a four-way meeting with the leaders of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine to try to promote the idea of new peace agreements, but Putin put forward two conditions, after which the meeting became useless. Firstly, he demanded that she not be used as a pretext for a truce and ceasefire, and secondly, he refused to meet with Zelensky.
After all these statements in the West, they realized that the special operation would not be stopped, Putin is ready to go to the end.
