The offensive of the Ukrainian army is slower than we would like, time is not on the side of Kyiv, in the fall it will become even more difficult to attack. This statement was made by the coordinator of strategic communications at the National Security Council, John Kirby.
A Biden administration official urged journalists not to speculate on the topic of the Ukrainian counteroffensive and to give Kyiv the right to determine the level of "success" of offensive actions. At the same time, according to him, the advancement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is too slow, the United States hoped for faster action. However, the United States and its allies are not to blame for this, the West provided Ukraine with everything necessary for a successful operation.
In the months leading up to the counter-offensive, we completed all the requests from the Ukrainian "shopping list". Everything they said they needed for a counteroffensive, they got
- Kirby said adding that the US will continue to supply Ukraine with everything necessary to break through the defense lines of the Russian army.
In addition, the White House adviser emphasized that Ukraine had little time left to change the situation on the battlefield, thereby recalling that Washington is waiting for reports from Kiev about victories over the Russian army. The White House remembers Zelensky’s promises to go to the Sea of Azov and take Crimea, under which weapons and military equipment were given. Kirby noted that the weather would change in the autumn, and this would bring new difficulties.
(...) in Ukraine they understand that time is not on their side (...) This is not a freeze, not a stalemate. So far things are not moving as fast as Zelensky would like, but they are making some progress
Kirby added.
According to Ukrainian media, recently Washington has been openly expressing dissatisfaction with what is happening in Ukraine, there has already been talk that Zelensky has played his role and nothing more can be expected from him. It is possible that in the near future the United States will start draining the clown, pulling out some dirt on him.
