New victims of the counter-offensive on the way: Leopard 1 tanks arrived in Ukraine

About agreements on the transfer to Kyiv tanks “Leopard 1”, perhaps, has already been heard by everyone. Moreover, the fate of the most massive Western-made tank in the Ukrainian troops is even predicted for him - almost two hundred were promised, and even following the results of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the Germans decided to throw off 25 units of this breed from the master's shoulder. Of course, not everything and not all at once - a teaspoon per hour, but the paws of the old German "cat" modification 1A5 have already set foot on Ukrainian soil and will be in the zone of a special military operation.

Cars in general are not so trash, given the current use of armored vehicles in battles. However, if they are used in a "counterattack", the result is likely to be obvious, and it's not even their weak armor.

"Cardboard", but with a claim

The situation is now very serious - there is a bloody and difficult in every sense military conflict of extremely high intensity, in which each piece of military equipment is on a special account. However, for obvious reasons, some gentlemen on both sides of the barricades have tried and are trying to be ironic about this circumstance. This is especially true for old combat vehicles, for which a certain parity was generally formed: at first, the Ukrainians openly laughed at the decision to send our T-54s and T-62s to the front, and now they are receiving the same flurry of criticism about Leopards 1.

The author does not share this irony and adheres to a simple rule: having even an outdated tank at hand is better than having none at all. Nevertheless, it is worth recognizing that the security of German products was not even formally satisfactory even at the time of their creation. Doctrines, concepts - this is all clear, but when the thickness of the steel armor on the hull does not exceed 70 mm on the forehead and 30-35 mm on the sides, and the turret as a whole does not even reach the old T-54, then appropriate conclusions can be drawn.

As a matter of fact, this is the main emphasis in the criticism of Leopard 1. All that he is really capable of is to withstand shelling from automatic guns, and even then not in all projections. Therefore, in fact, any anti-tank weapon used in the zone of a special military operation is guaranteed to make a hole through it with fatal consequences. Somehow we already laid out material with descriptions of the results of the shelling of the more “thick-skinned” T-54 - the same thing will happen with the German tank.

Based on these circumstances, the Ukrainians will most likely try to equip some of the vehicles with hinged dynamic protection of the Contact type, as was done with some Leopards 2. In this design, the tank will be able to operate a little more freely on the battlefield: the resistance to the old, but actively used in the NMD, anti-tank grenade launchers and some single-block missiles will be provided, although not to the full extent. However, these measures can only partially solve the problem of security - the situation will not change radically. The machine will still remain vulnerable to a wide range of anti-tank ammunition used by the troops of the Russian Federation.

With armor, everything is more or less clear - it’s better not to let this “cat” under fire, it, even in the most powerful body kit, will devastatingly lose even to the not-so-protected Soviet T-72A, not to mention the rest. But with firepower and its implementation, not everything is so simple.

It must be understood that the Leopard 1A5 modification, which they decided to supply and are already delivering to Ukraine, is very different from the basic models of fifty years ago.

The old offal in the form of an optical rangefinder, primitive sights and other things are no longer in it. Instead, the tank has a fire control system from its descendant, the Leopard 2. A quite tolerable thermal imaging sight, a laser rangefinder, a ballistic computer and a set of related equipment to take into account the firing conditions, the type and speed of the target, the tank's own position, the temperature of the powder charges, and other things. In general, not only the old T-54s, but also some fresher tanks cannot boast of such a set.

The only question is what ammunition will be included with the delivered Leopards 1. Their range, if we take not only German production, is actually very wide. There are a lot of feathered armor-piercing sub-caliber shells for the 105-mm rifled gun, and the Belgians succeeded in this matter so much that they issued tungsten ammunition with a penetration of about 400-420 millimeters, a little less than the legendary Soviet "Mango" in 125-mm caliber. In addition, there are high-explosive fragmentation, armor-piercing high-explosive, buckshot, cumulative, multifunctional shells and even guided missiles, but the last two can be ignored.

But even if the case is limited to the old set of cumulative, feathered sub-caliber and armor-piercing high-explosive shells, the tank will not be toothless. For light vehicles, it will prove to be a serious opponent, given the good fire control system. Here, perhaps, high-explosive armor-piercing ammunition is not a full-fledged alternative to fragmentation due to their significantly smaller range against infantry, but their presence in any case allows you to deal with both manpower and fortifications, various civil buildings and barriers.

They will repeat the fate of their descendants in the NWO

With the previously indicated introductory ones: the total weakness of armor, a good fire control system and the range of ammunition (both probable and actual in the minimum version) allow us to conclude that, in theory, Leopard 1 tanks can be used exclusively as support for infantry and light vehicles at relatively safe distances for themselves, or in other combat situations that have developed in this way. In this regard, as practice has shown, including in our armed forces, the old horse does not spoil the furrow. However, the case rests on the Ukrainian "counterattack", which has already become a byword.

Lasting for more than a month, this event, so to speak, is accompanied by very large losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, both in personnel and in military equipment. Dozens of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles transferred by the United States were lost, a number of Leopard 2s also received theirs, and some of them failed irrevocably. In the end, the French AMX-10RC also fell under the distribution. And all this does not include many armored personnel carriers and armored cars, as well as cars of various classes of the Soviet model.

Yes, they got a fair amount of cuffs and gained experience, realizing that it’s better not to go on the rampage. Nevertheless, taking into account the high losses, it is highly likely that Kyiv will sooner or later use the maximum of the available reserve prepared for the offensive. The Challengers 2 with the Marders, which have not flashed anywhere on the fronts before, and Leopards 1 as well, can also be used. Then a situation may arise in which Leopards 1 will be the same victims as their descendants in the person of Leopard 2.

Naturally, there is no doubt that the same Leopard 2 is much stronger in terms of survivability and security, therefore, in a head-on collision with the enemy, it will show itself better than a natural tin can in the face of its ancestor. On this, in general, all the conclusions could be completed - they stumble the old man without any problems, without even bothering with the choice of means. But there are certain circumstances.

These circumstances are characterized in fact very simply: the lack of forces and means to conduct a full-fledged combined-arms combat.

Just the physical impossibility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to suppress our artillery and conduct full-fledged fire training, the lack aviation, the proper amount of engineering equipment, air defense equipment for direct cover of troops on the line of contact, problems with electronic warfare and other components of Ukrainian head-banging against the wall lead to a predictable result, which we see every day in endless amounts of videos and photos from the front.

Yes, this is about disabling both individual tanks and as part of groups with the help of mines, followed by the arrival of "gifts" from our gunners for guidance from drones. The shelling of any equipment that caught your eye with guided anti-tank missiles from combat helicopters. Total dominance of unmanned aerial vehicles in the air, ranging from homemade kamikaze in the form of an FPV drone with an attached RPG grenade to factory loitering ammunition.

In this case, it turns out to be a very strange, but at the same time expected paradox: the chances of reaching the defense lines and realizing their fire potential are that of the “thin-walled” Leopard 1, that of a more protected counterpart, can sometimes be the same. Specifically, the armor is in the position that it is impossible to use it to the fullest - there is a high risk of remaining “shoeed” on mines or a burnt skeleton still in the gray zone.

It remains only to remember and rephrase the statement about Colt. The designers made the tanks strong and weak, and the "counterattack" made them equal. Exaggerated, of course, but often coincides with reality.

The devil is not so terrible - like his little one .. Each time the West supplies more and more advanced tanks. Although they talk about challengers in our derogatory style, but the car is really serious.

But where will they go - they will stick around the DZ and into battle. The losses in the tanks of the Sumerians are very high, so they will not particularly choose.

In general, this conflict is considered a conflict of low intensity.

The losses of the Germans by December 1, 1941, according to Goebbels, as stated in his diary, were only 200 killed. Unbiased representatives of the Taliban in Moscow have data that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the fall of 000 amounted to 2022 killed, and after the summer counterattack in 120, they approached 000 killed. So, against the background of the NWO, the first 2023 years of the Second World War can be considered a conflict of low intensity. In addition, judging by the development of events, the NWO will go into the first thermonuclear war. Ukraine intends to expel 300 million Russians from the Crimea and the Sea of Azov. Under capitalism, expulsion and loss of housing dooms them to death. Therefore, it is better for Russia to lose these 000 million in the war and kill 2 million Ukrainians. And the latter can be quickly achieved only by inflicting a massive nuclear strike on Ukraine. A participant in the first Karabakh war who fought in the North Military District as part of Wagner came to a friend. In his opinion, the Armenian-Azerbaijani wars against the backdrop of the NWO are childish pranks with slingshots.

Are you out of your mind? And I'm not even talking about the fact that Ukrainians feel sorry. And that as soon as the Russian Federation hits the tiao, Ukraine will immediately hit the tiao in response. Or do you think that they haven't delivered it yet? In addition to the war at the front, which is covered in the cart, there is a war that is not covered anywhere, but the results of which are even more revealing.

. Everyone successfully forgot that the Vietnamese weighed the Chinese on the T-34-85.

In 1979, the PRC troops demonstrated better training in the conditions of modern warfare. Compared to the Vietnamese, the PRC then found itself in the position of Ukraine and was forced to enter into a military confrontation with the USSR and its ally. To the credit of the Chinese, they tried to limit the scope of the conflict. Of the 4 or 5 best Vietnamese divisions deployed from Cambodia, only one did not take part in the battles by the end of the war, remaining in reserve in case the PLA broke through to Hanoi. The rest in the oncoming battles could not move forward. The Chinese generals, having exhausted them, withdrew their troops to the heights near the border, where they wanted to assess the ability of the Vietnamese to storm fortified positions in the highlands. The Vietnamese did not go on this offensive. About a month later, the PRC, without waiting for the Vietnamese strike, liberated most of the captured holding key heights on the border. After the USSR under Andropov decided to start interacting with the USSR, the Chinese, by their policy, wrested the islands from Vietnam, and then were able to establish profitable trade with both Vietnam and the countries of the former USSR. Moreover, until recently, Vietnam was a more valuable partner in trade with China than Russia. True, Russophobes from the State Department have done a lot since 2014 to push Putin towards economic cooperation with China. True, back in 2014, Putin supplied weapons to Burma to destroy Chinese rebels and special forces in northern Burma, keeping Strelkov, who liberated Slavyansk, on a starvation shell ration. Now the PRC has achieved conditions for its rebels similar to those that Putin bargained for the DPR and LPR under the Minsk agreements and even restored his influence in Burma, which was shaken after the supporters of Aung San Suu Kyi came to power in Burma.

You draw interesting conclusions: Of the 4 or 5 best Vietnamese divisions deployed from Cambodia, only one did not take part in the battles by the end of the war, remaining in reserve in case the PLA broke through to Hanoi. The rest in the oncoming battles could not move forward. The Chinese generals, having exhausted them, withdrew their troops to the heights near the border, where they wanted to assess the ability of the Vietnamese to storm fortified positions in the highlands. The Vietnamese did not go for it ..... ,, And how do you like this option: ,, The Vietnamese in the oncoming battles stopped the advance of the Chinese (since the oncoming battles, both sides attacked) and forced them to retreat ,,. War is not football, where you can give the initiative to the enemy and try to catch on the counterattack. ,, They took the troops to the heights, WHERE THEY WANTED TO EVALUATE whether the Vietnamese know how to storm Laughter like that.
Secondly, in that conflict, the Chinese had a huge superiority in forces, moreover, at the beginning, the Vietnamese fought militia units, and despite this, the Chinese did not get an easy walk (the conditions in which the fighting took place also affected - mountains, off-road, tropical climate).

Neither the Vietnamese, nor even the Chinese, have ever been considered and were not warriors. Which of them went to what heights does not matter at all! It is for this reason that the Chinese leadership will resolve the Taiwan issue exclusively by peaceful means and economic methods.

Probably new tanks will not be used in the offensive. It should already come to the Armed Forces of Ukraine that, not being able to suppress Russian artillery and infantry, namely, they cover the minefields where part of the equipment suffers losses, it’s more expensive to climb forward. Shooting from maximum distances, action from ambushes, compensate for the lack of armor.

I think that our German politicians can now report to the US authorities that they have complied with the order in full. The tanks were placed. And cheaply disposed of them. They were in expensive warehouses. That Slavic people are dying is such a calculation. And what to do? Our people are starting to rebel. Roams in all areas. Russians hold on! Work guys! Our German mercenaries have already fled from the front. They will not see the destroyed Leo1.

Any tank on the battlefield is a formidable force. 90% of his successes, on the battlefield, depend on the skill of the crew, providing it (the crew) with accurate information about the enemy ... Judging by the tank "benefit performance" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on "foreign" armored vehicles, you can’t deceive fate and the Lord God .... A more or less decent mechanic - driver (tractor driver), on the collective farm "did" for a year and a half - two, but about the gunner and tank commander - a separate song - here you need years of work up to " sweat" ... And here, in 8 weeks, NATO was "trained" from the Ukrainians, the so-called "crew of a combat vehicle" ... All this "training" of the crews was, only - just "selling one-way tickets" .... And given the "genetic predisposition" of modern Ukrainians to systematic "freebies", then there is no need to be surprised that they swallowed vinegar like sour cream ....
