Dima Yakovlev's list versus Sergei Magnitsky's list: spit on a stone?
After creating and accepting the list, many, both abroad and in our country, said: but because of what, in fact, raise the hubbub. After all, THEY did not accept the list for us and ordinary Russians, but for very different people. They say that they didn’t touch us - okay ... The position is certainly interesting, but it’s somehow too opportunistic. And does anyone really have the confidence that the American parliamentarians did all this to punish those responsible for the death of Magnitsky? Naive ...
However, even putting to brackets the identities of those people who were on the “black list”, you involuntarily ask yourself: does something similar to Magnitsky act in relation to any other states or individual gentlemen? Perhaps the Americans arrested the accounts of George W. Bush, who, during his time in the Oval Office of the White House, managed to violate so many rights and freedoms of civilians that his mother did not worry ... Perhaps the Congress is going to prohibit all people involved in the United States from entering killings of civilians in Serbia, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. If so, then there can’t be some entry ban. Here the Congress itself will have to dissolve ... Perhaps the same Cardin associates will decide to add to the list, for example, the British queen, along with David Cameron, who are not averse to welcome all, excuse me, terrorist and oligarchic riffraff who managed to violate all possible human rights , taken together.
But is it worth discussing the one-sidedness of American sanctions again and again, if our reasoning is clearly not impressed by American politicians who are looking for another mote in another's eye. In this case, it is better to find an appropriate practical move that will allow US lawmakers to understand that every stick has two ends, and every action, according to the laws of physics, gives rise to adequate opposition.
This practical opposition from Russia can be, if you will, “our response to Chamberlain” in the form of a list of the name of Dima Yakovlev. Dima is the same boy who was once adopted by the American family, and so “cared” about him, that the adoptive father managed to either forget or purposefully leave the baby in the car heated to + 50 in the sun, as a result of which the boy died. Recall that the case occurred in the state of Virginia, under the laws of which Miles Harrison faced up to 10 years in prison. But the court not only didn’t give 10 to the child-killer years, but justified this man in general ... The court simply did not consider the actions of Dima Yakovlev’s adoptive father criminal: they say, well, the person who happens to be forgotten ... However, in similar cases with American children, the court invariably passed convictions and "rewarded" the guilty with simply astronomical terms. But then, American children, and Russian ones ... It turns out that human rights in the United States can be respected with respect to far from all. And if so, then what do the initiators of the adoption of the Magnitsky list say. Is it not time for them to take a closer look in the mirror to see firsthand that there are real violations of human rights: a violation of the basic right - the right to life. Or does the United States recognize that people in the world should be divided by grades? ..
It is obvious that the retaliatory move on the part of Russia towards the United States is clearly a necessary measure. This is emphasized by both the Russian Foreign Ministry and the legislators, who have shown rare unanimity when adopting the list of Dima Yakovlev in the first reading. However, when such a step is made, you need to finish the job. It is necessary to conduct an active information campaign, which would allow to reveal the one-sidedness of the foreign policy of the United States and attempts to keep silent about its own facts of violations of human values. Let the very global community, about which so much has been said lately, also open its eyes to the American “democracy”, which has not stood next to real democracy. The fact of the appearance of the list of Dima Yakovlev can put the American president, who promised to put his signature on the Magnitsky act already before the end of 2012, in an unpleasant situation. After all, if Obama takes this step, then Vladimir Putin will give a move to the response list, which is able to demonstrate to the world that it is time to take a sober look at the American justice system, which has become the very real stuffed democracy: outwardly, everything is a feather to a feather, and inside is solid sawdust forms ...
The adoption of the Magnitsky list by the American legislators does not at all trace the desire for a real struggle for democratic values, but a craving for hanging a new iron curtain. After all, it is much more convenient with him to talk about the clear threat from Russia towards the United States. American politicians are simply vitally necessary to have an external enemy, behind the shadow of which you can crank out lucrative deals. So is it worth saying that in the States someone is seriously concerned about the tragic fate of Sergei Magnitsky ... Yes, the majority of those who voted "for" do not even know who Magnitsky is, and why he ended up in the SIZO. But this is not important for Congress.
It is a pity that the name of this person now, thanks to overseas officials, has become a synonym for the policy of double standards, which have to be corrected by symmetrical methods.
Someone can declare that for the USA the return Russian list will not be a big tragedy. But we do not need other people's tragedies. The task of Russia in this case is to pick up a large mirror and direct it towards the United States. Sometimes it is very useful to look at yourself from the side.
