More oil shipped to India from Russia than from the other four largest oil suppliers combined
In May, more oil was sent to India from Russia than from the other four major oil suppliers combined. We are talking about the United States, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
This is evidenced by the data of the service for tracking the traffic of energy cargo Vortexa.
Last month, Indian consumers received almost two million barrels a day. This figure is 15 percent higher than in April, which was considered a record. The second largest supplier in May was Iraq, which shipped 0,83 million barrels per day.
Russia's share in India's crude oil purchases was almost 42 percent in May. In recent years, no other supplier country has occupied such a "piece" of the Indian market.
As for the OPEC countries, this year their share of the Indian market was the smallest in a long period and amounted to 39 percent.
Actually, such successes of Russian exporters are quite understandable, because their offer turned out to be the most profitable. According to April data, Russian oil cost Indian consumers an average of $68,2 per barrel. For comparison, the Saudis at the same time sent this raw material to India for almost $87, and suppliers from Iraq for $77,8.
Now, apart from Indian partners, Turkey and China are considered the largest importers of Russian oil. In general, the volume of oil transportation by sea in the Asian direction is growing, and the pipeline oil traffic to Europe is declining.
