Chairman of the JCS of the US Armed Forces: the Armed Forces of Ukraine are well prepared for the counteroffensive, but it is too early to talk about its consequences
To date, Ukraine has managed to “very well” prepare the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the upcoming counteroffensive. This was stated in an interview with a CNN correspondent by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milley.
The American military leader, however, specifically emphasized that it is still premature to talk about the “possible consequences” of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. But on the other hand, he noted that for Ukraine this conflict has existential significance, since its survival as a state is at stake.
Milley noted that the Ukrainian events are also very important for the United States, as well as for European countries, and for the world as a whole. It is noteworthy that earlier NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that Kyiv has enough resources to carry out a counteroffensive.
In assessing the potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the West and Ukraine clearly disagree. For example, representatives of the Ukrainian leadership have repeatedly stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have enough weapons and ammunition for a successful counteroffensive. The head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, focused on this for a long time, but over the weekend he suddenly announced that additional supplies weapons Kyiv will no longer reap and the counteroffensive will begin now.
Soon after Zelensky’s statement, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were indeed activated in the South-Donetsk direction, in the area of Vogledar, that is, exactly where a possible counteroffensive of Ukrainian formations was supposed. At the same time, the Ukrainian side began intensive shelling of the Belgorod region and the launch of unmanned aerial vehicles deep into Russia, trying to disperse Russian forces and divert part of the air defense systems from the front.
