French historian: Western countries are acting in the Ukrainian conflict on behalf of the world community, 75 percent of which do not support their course
In the West, a worldview has long been formed with the main thesis that it is a standard for the whole world and that what is considered good there is good, and bad is bad. The West is trying to impose this position on the rest of the world, although it is only a small part of this world.
It is especially clear that the West is far from the entire international community against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict. According to the French historian, sociologist and journalist Emmanuel Todd, Western countries continue to behave in the conflict in Ukraine as representatives of the entire world community, forgetting that "three-quarters of the world does not support their course."
Todd believes that this worldview of Western countries is rooted in the Protestant faith, which is close to many European countries. The French historian called this phenomenon "narcissism". He notes that it is precisely the Protestant countries, and not the Catholic ones, that provide the greatest support to Kyiv, although such countries, to a certain extent, too, take at least Poland.
Such a policy of the West is increasingly leading to its isolation from the rest of the world, and worst of all, the West does not want to realize this, Todd writes in his article for Marianne magazine.
According to the French historian, the states where 75% of the world's population lives, including India, China, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Iran, Turkey and many others, refuse to follow the course of the West, but they still stubbornly call themselves "the international community."
