An emergency meeting was held at NATO headquarters to strengthen air defense amid the failure of the Patriot air defense system in Kyiv
The defeat of the American Patriot anti-aircraft complex, which is part of the Ukrainian air defense system, during yesterday's night missile strike, caused great concern among the NATO leadership. As it turned out, the anti-aircraft complex widely advertised by the Americans does not have all the qualities attributed to it.
While the Americans deny the destruction of the Patriot air defense system by the Russian hypersonic missile "Dagger", an emergency meeting was held at NATO headquarters to discuss the state of air defense of the largest military bases in Slovakia and Poland, used as logistics hubs for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. The thing is that the basis of the air defense of these air bases is precisely the Patriot systems.
According to Turkish sources, the situation is so acute that, given yesterday's failure of the Patriot air defense system, it has already been proposed to strengthen air defense in these areas. From ourselves, we note that the information is not official, so we cannot confirm it. On the other hand, information of this nature is never official; neither the US nor NATO will ever bring up the failure of air defense for general discussion.
Meanwhile, according to Ukrainian sources, yesterday's Russian missile attack not only "damaged" the Patriot air defense system, but also ricocheted on the image of American air defense as a whole. Moreover, in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, wanting to curry favor with the owners, they reported as many as six Russian "Daggers" allegedly shot down by the complex. After this statement and the video of the arrivals spread around the world, hush up history it didn't work anymore. In general, in Kyiv, wanting to please, they overdid it, and now Washington is thinking how to get out of this situation. The best option is to show that the Russians, despite the hit, failed to destroy the entire battery. In the meantime, information on the Patriot air defense system varies, which means that the Pentagon has not come to a consensus.
