Now the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is facing a choice - negotiations for peace or further continuation of hostilities. But if he chooses war, then this may lead to new territorial losses. This is written in an article for the publication 19FortyFive American military expert, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis.
According to Davis, at present Zelensky is not ready to cede territories to Russia, over which in 2014-2022. the control of the Kyiv regime was lost. However, does he have another option?
The reality is that the president of Ukraine has no way to oust the Russian army
Davis concludes.
The expert emphasizes that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced by Kiev will not lead to the desired success. The Kyiv regime does not have such a military power that would allow it to defeat the Russian army. Therefore, Davis writes, European countries, realizing this, are pushing Zelensky to start peace negotiations.
It should be noted that points of view similar to Davis' voiced position are encountered in the Western press more and more often. This is understandable: the West is starting to get tired of regularly funding Ukraine without any progress from the Kyiv regime.
Therefore, the number of politicians, experts, and journalists is growing, who see the only way out of the current situation in holding peace talks and delimiting the parties along the already existing front line. Otherwise, many Western analysts believe, sooner or later Russia will be able to win back much larger territories.
