Complex "Wasp" included in the catalog of weapons of NATO member countries
The gunless pistol "Wasp" and twenty more samples of domestic weapons, developed by the Federal Research-and-Production Scientific Practical Institute “Scientific Research Institute of Applied Chemistry”, a member of the Russian Technologies Corporation, are included in the official catalog of NATO non-lethal weapons (BPS). The decision was made by the DAT-11 commission, specially created for this purpose in 2008. The best of the selected samples will be included in the purchases of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“The member states of the North Atlantic Alliance can adopt only the products included in this catalog, so for Russia this means entering a new market,” commented Artem Muranov, head of the foreign economic activity department at the Research Institute of Applied Chemistry.
During the work of the DAT-11 commission, created within the framework of the NATO technology program “Protection against Terrorism”, demonstration demonstrations of UPM were held in the member countries of the group. Russian developments turned out to be the best in two categories: non-lethal means to influence crowds and to neutralize individuals or groups. Special interest of experts was caused by the Osa complex with light and traumatic ammunition.
The complex of non-lethal weapons "Wasp" Includes a quadruple or twin-loaded barrelless pistol and a wide range of special 18x45 cartridges with an aluminum sleeve and electric ignition. The complex is distinguished by high reliability, ease of use and efficiency and is intended for use by law enforcement officers, as well as for self-defense and individual protection of citizens from attacks, ensuring safety in air transport, signaling and lighting the area with signal and lighting rockets.
The gun has four main modifications - PB-4SP, PB-4-2, PB-4-1ML and PBXNNUMX. Its body is made of high strength aluminum alloy. Pistols of all modifications are equipped with an integrated laser designator.
The electronic trigger mechanism helps to increase the reliability of the gun - there are no reciprocating moving parts in it that can jam due to dirt, faulty cartridges, and so on. In the event of a misfire, the gun will automatically fire off with the next good cartridge, so no need to reload the weapon.
Experts note that the complex is the first weapon in the world that uses truly effective non-lethal ammunition with minimal risk of causing irreversible damage to the attacker's health. At the moment, negotiations are underway for the supply of the Osa complex to Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and Ireland.
