The air defense systems of the Syrian Armed Forces managed to shoot down several missiles that Israel launched into the country. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of the SAR in social networks.
According to the Syrian military, the missiles were launched by the Israel Defense Forces from the Golan Heights at targets in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. At about 5 am local time, Israeli troops began shelling the southern regions of the republic. No casualties have been reported, but damage to Syrian facilities is known to have been inflicted.
The IDF military command, in turn, claims that the fire on Syrian territory was opened in response to the launch of missiles on the Golan Heights controlled by the Israeli military. Two rockets flew into Israeli territory, one of them was shot down, and the second fell by itself.
Meanwhile, the Syrian TV channel Al-Ikhbariya reported a series of explosions near the capital of the SAR, Damascus. The nature of the explosions, according to the Syrian press, is specified. It is possible that they were also associated with the work of air defense systems.
Note that the situation in Syria has escalated significantly in recent weeks. Israel stepped up shelling and aviation strikes on the territory of a sovereign state - the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR). As expected, in this case, the "international community" led by the United States is silent, no one accuses Israel of aggression and does not impose sanctions against Israeli high-ranking officials and senior officers of the IDF.
