The Ukrainian airline Antonov Airlines has begun using the An-225 Mriya transport aircraft that survived the destruction of the world's largest transport aircraft, the An-XNUMX Mriya, on Ruslan aircraft used in Germany. This was stated by Deputy Head of the State Enterprise Antonov Maxim Sanotsky.
Two of these engines are reported to be in use on aircraft in Germany. The Ukrainian airline currently operates five Ruslan cargo aircraft based in Leipzig.
In total, six engines were installed on the Mriya aircraft, three of which were dismantled, and two were installed on An-124-100 aircraft.
From the burnt by Ukrainian artillery during attempts to recapture the city of Gostomel "Mriya" occupied by Russian paratroopers, elements of the wing mechanization were also subsequently dismantled, which are planned to be used in the possible production of the second copy of the An-225. In addition, for a potential second instance of the aircraft, it is planned to use the surviving landing gear from the destroyed Mriya.
At present, the skeleton of the destroyed An-225 Mriya cargo aircraft is still located on the territory of the Gostomel airfield in the Kyiv region.
A criminal case has been opened against the former general director of the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise Antonov. He is accused of official negligence, shown in the absence of timely evacuation of the aircraft.
