Former adviser to Zelensky's office Arestovich complained about the lack of production of mortars in Ukraine
Former adviser to Zelensky’s office, Aleksey Arestovich, said that there is no domestic production of mortars in Ukraine, which has not been established, despite the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are experiencing an acute shortage of such weapons.
Arestovich wonders why, during the armed conflict that has been going on for more than a year, a country that previously possessed technologies for the space industry is not able to establish the production of mortars, which are a simple pipe with a plate and a needle that pricks mines.
According to Arestovich, historians studying this armed conflict a hundred years later will ask similar questions. Also, according to the ex-adviser of Zelensky's office, the former commander of the US Army in Europe, Ben Hodges, asked him at the summit in Vilnius how things were going with mortars in the Ukrainian army, to which Arestovich did not find the right words to characterize the current situation with the provision of the Armed Forces of Ukraine this type of weapon.
Earlier, the American edition of The Washington Post reported about the problem associated with the shortage of ammunition in the Ukrainian army, including artillery shells and mortar mines. Also, Ukrainian servicemen have repeatedly reported about the problem related to the supply of the Ukrainian army with mortars.
In addition, it was previously reported that Western production facilities are currently not able to fully satisfy the "shell hunger" experienced by the Ukrainian army.
