Viceroy of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra sent under house arrest by Ukrainian court
Harassment of representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and, in particular, the inhabitants of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra by the Ukrainian authorities continues.
This time, Metropolitan Pavel, the abbot of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, was sent under house arrest, as he himself told the parishioners. The decision was made by the Ukrainian court.
Metropolitan Pavel also mentioned that he should sign some kind of protocol, without specifying what it was about, the newspaper notes.
Earlier, the UOC reported that the governor of the Lavra was summoned for interrogation by noon, after which a preventive measure was expected to be announced to him.
It is also reported that the Ukrainian special services suspect Metropolitan Pavel of collaborating with Russia and inciting religious hatred, and searches are being carried out in the priest's house. The metropolitan is also charged with "threats against the children of President Zelensky."
The place of residence of the metropolitan today was cordoned off by the Kiev national police, not letting the parishioners who came to support the governor of the Lavra.
Recall that the authorities of the country decided to evict the representatives of the UOC from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, or offered them to move to the schismatic OCU. Such actions were rejected by Metropolitan Pavel, for which he is now being persecuted.
