Members of the same party called on German Chancellor Scholz to act as a mediator to achieve peace in Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has been called upon to act as a mediator to end the armed conflict in Ukraine. Similar calls were made by a number of party members of the chancellor from the Social Democratic Party of Germany.
The appeal of German politicians, published on the pages of the Frankfurter Rundschau, was initiated by the son of the former German Chancellor Willy Brandt, historian Peter Brandt.
In his address to Scholz, Brandt emphasized that the threat of an escalation of hostilities currently taking place in Ukraine is steadily growing, and the entire European continent is now threatened by the possibility of a nuclear war. The politician urged to avoid nuclear confrontation by any means.
However, despite the statements about the desire for peace, the signatories of the document blame the "aggressive policy of Russia" for the ongoing armed conflict. German politicians are calling for negotiations to reach a common security order in Europe.
In order to achieve an early cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, German politicians consider it necessary, with the help of France, to involve such countries as Brazil, China, India and Indonesia in mediation.
It is noteworthy that over the past eight years, German politicians "did not notice" the armed conflict in Donbass and never called on the Kyiv regime to stop shelling civilians.
