Israel for the first time sent its F-35I Adir fighter jets to conduct joint Red Flag exercises with the US Air Force
For the first time, Israel sent its F-35I Adir fighter jets to conduct Red Flag exercises with the US Air Force in the United States. The maneuvers took place at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada from March 12 to 24.
It is worth noting that these trainings took place against the backdrop of tensions between Israel and Iran.
As the commander of the 414th US Air Force combat training squadron, Colonel Jared Hutchinson, emphasized, the pilots highly appreciated the training in the framework of the Red Flag exercises, noting the high efficiency of each other's actions.
About 100 military aircraft were involved in the maneuvers. On the part of the Israeli Air Force, 7 F-35 fighters took part in the hostilities, which is a quarter of the total number of multi-role strike fighters from the air force fleet of this country. By 2024, this figure is expected to increase to 50 units.
According to the Israeli command, during the exercises, the participants simulated the repulsion of attacks by air defense forces and means. The parties also worked out joint aviation strikes, performed tasks within the framework of territorial defense, carried out actions to intercept enemy air assets, flew at low altitudes, and also conducted flight tests in the air defense coverage area of a mock enemy.
As clarified in the Tsakhal, these exercises made it possible to strengthen cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries in order to ensure security in the Middle East.
Red Flag exercises are held three times a year in Nevada, the main goal of which is to provide realistic combat training scenarios. For this, strikes are practiced both on ground and on air targets.
