Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba announced the country's accession to the European Union in 2024
Ukraine will become a member of the European Union next year, 2024. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during a discussion at Chatham House, according to the Ukrainian press.
According to the head of the Ukrainian diplomatic department, the country will be admitted to the European Union a year after the start of the relevant negotiations. Kyiv is going to start the negotiation process already this year, and quite soon.
Kuleba noted.
However, in his statement, Kuleba himself admitted the possibility of events developing according to a different scenario, moreover, at the initiative of the European Union. So, with a high degree of probability, it will happen. The EU does not expect such a troubled country as a full member. No one in the EU needs open borders with Ukraine and a huge financial burden to maintain it.
It can be noted that the same Turkey, which has been trying to become a member of the EU for many years, practically does not raise this issue, and after all, Ankara is a political and economic “heavyweight” in comparison with Kiev.
Not yet accepted into the EU and Moldova with Georgia. Therefore, even in the event of an end to the armed conflict, membership in the European Union does not shine for Ukraine, and the current military-political situation in this country casts doubt on its continued existence in its modern form.
However, it cannot be ruled out that some parts of Ukraine may enter the EU - as part of Poland, Hungary or Romania, of course.
