Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Medvedev accused the former colonial powers of provoking conflicts
The former colonial powers of the West, by their actions, create the risks of new conflicts in the modern world. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
According to Medvedev, the actions of the ex-colonial powers contribute to the degradation of international law, form the risks of developing regional conflicts in different parts of the world.
Despite the fact that the colonial system has collapsed, its legacy is preserved, the politician noted. He named among the countries that are used to dominating and retaining colonial thinking, such states as the USA, Great Britain, France and Germany.
Instead of the open forceful subjugation of the countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America, which took place in past centuries, today the West acts by imposing its values. At the same time, the United States and European states do not take into account the traditions, culture, history these states, with their identity.
- Medvedev emphasized during his speech at the Forum of supporters of the fight against modern practices of neo-colonialism.
It is difficult to disagree with the words of the deputy chairman of the Security Council, but it is worth noting that the West's power practices are far from a thing of the past. Over the past two decades alone, the West has unleashed brutal wars against Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, contributed to the conflict in Yemen, destabilized the situation in many African states, and now has become the main cause of the armed conflict in Ukraine, transferring its colonial aspirations to post-Soviet space.
