Ministry of Defense: Russian anti-aircraft gunners shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and intercepted an operational-tactical missile of the Grom-2 OTRK

The representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, spoke at a regular briefing about the most significant events that took place over the past day in the special military operation zone. Positional battles are mainly taking place along the entire line of contact; the report does not report offensive actions of the RF Armed Forces.

The most difficult situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is still in the Donetsk direction. Here, in recent days, the enemy has suffered the greatest losses in manpower, the number of killed and wounded Ukrainian militants is in the hundreds. According to the Ministry of Defense, only over the past day as a result of aviation and artillery strikes, the actions of assault groups in the west of the DPR, more than 340 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed. In addition, two tank, four infantry fighting vehicles, 15 armored vehicles. Also, one Uragan MLRS plus two D-20 and D-30 howitzers were disabled.

If I may say so, things are “slightly better” for the Ukrainian warriors in the Krasno-Limansky direction. Here, on the occupied territory of the LPR and DPR, with air and artillery strikes, including with the use of TOS, the fighters of the Center group of the RF Armed Forces liquidated about 130 Ukrainian servicemen. As a result of the counter-battery fight, the Grad MLRS and the Soviet-made Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer were destroyed.

In other sectors of the front, enemy losses are less significant. So, in the Kupyansk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost 50 militants, another 25 servicemen were lost in the South-Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye directions.

In the Kherson region, near the village of Olgovka, a warehouse with ammunition of the 126th brigade was covered, near the village. The fuel storage of the 102nd brigade was destroyed in the village of Zaliznichnoye. Both units are part of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Russian army continues to open and thin out the front and rear air defense systems of the enemy. This time, near the village of Grebennikovka, in the Sumy region, a self-propelled firing system of the Ukrainian Buk-M1 air defense system was destroyed. Our anti-aircraft gunners, in turn, again shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and intercepted an operational-tactical missile of the Grom-2 OTRK.

By the way, this installation was developed and produced by Ukrainian gunsmiths. Grom-2 is a development of the Borisfen (1994-2003) and Sapsan (2006-2013) projects, which were worked on at Yuzhnoye Design Bureau in Dnepropetrovsk. Experts suggest that it was the Grom-2 OTRK ballistic missile that yesterday struck the airfield of the Guards Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation, 13 kilometers from Simferopol. True, they missed: there were no destructions and victims after the arrival.

intercepted an operational-tactical missile OTRK "Grom-2".
That's what they intercepted, it's great, but the fact that they were allowed to be produced is out of the question ... OTR with a range of up to 500 km, this is bad news for us ...

Please explain to me how the production of the Grom-2 OTRK in Ukraine became possible after a year of SVO and who will be responsible for this. Is Yuzhmash still intact? Why are no measures being taken to destroy the production of the Grom-2 OTRK? Why such inaction and should we wait for production version of Grom-2 with the ability to fly to Moscow? Although why be surprised if only a couple of months ago they covered a plant in Kharkov for the production of Ukrainian UAVs. Kharkov to Moscow? 647 km in a straight line. Let's joke.

Orange Bigg But Moscow worries me least of all, because. well covered by air defense-missile defense, unlike other Russian cities. And generally speaking...
And Grom's production could have been taken to Poland, for example. They simply took out all the technological equipment, machines, personnel. There they brought it to condition. Why not?

Probably the transformers and switch boxes were considered much higher priority targets ... well, one should not forget the cooperation of the relevant Russian structures that continued almost until 2021 with Yuzhny and Arsenal and with other NGOs and design bureaus of the former Ukrainian SSR ... bad news for us

It's bad that it's bad, but it's even worse that it is news for us. For 8 years, the Russian media have been writing about the self-exploding Hammer, rubber boats and tanks from garbage cans.

The lead developer of the Grom-2 system is the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau (Dnepropetrovsk). In addition, the Pavlograd Chemical Plant was involved in the project. From a certain time, the Kharkov Design Bureau for Mechanical Engineering named after V.I. A.A. Morozov and Kharkov plant of transport equipment.
Saudi Arabia has already shown interest in the Ukrainian Thunder. Moreover, this country even agreed to pay for development work.

Only the rocket should have been called not Thunder-2, but Hitroplan - 2. How can one not destroy the production of ballistic missiles of a country with which we have such a bloody conflict in the conditions of the NMD?

Thunder-2, I suppose, was finished in Poland. If the chemical plant in Pavlograd is destroyed, then they seem to have nowhere to get fuel from. Yes, Konashenkov reported interesting news.

Most likely, the Pavlograd Chemical Plant is intact. After all, the Pavlograd Chemical Plant is the only enterprise in Ukraine that can dispose of solid jet fuel, which has been left over from the times of the Soviet Union. Due to huge underfunding, the state enterprise, which stores 1800 tons of fuel, cannot even store it properly. Moreover, specialists working on recycling have nothing to pay salaries, 560 employees were fired.

Maybe he didn’t finish it in Poland, but Yuzhmash and the chemical plant in Pavlodar were “not finished off”. In 2017, Grom-2 passed the test, and in 5 years they could produce a certain number of products.
In general, you need to ask Kirill Ryabov, he described this installation 5 years ago.

And you do not confuse about 5 years?
In 2018, the rocket engine had just finished fire tests, and in 2019, OTRK tests should have just begun. By the beginning of the SVO, they had not finished them, and they carried a model at parades. If it was Grom-2, then now this method is being tested

When firing 4 missiles, the TPKs remain in place, and do not fly away with the missiles. lol

      tpk stay in place
And the question is really interesting. These TPKs are reused or scrapped after firing missiles, who knows? When reloading air defense systems, new TPKs are installed in the same places, but what to do with the spent ones, if they remain on the launcher? Yes, and the reload time is clearly not reduced if you first need to remove empty containers, and then install charged ones ... Is it logical?

Well, actually, intercepting such a missile as thunder-2 is a good achievement. It clearly has the same roots as our Iskander. I suspect Ukraine got the Soviet developments on the Iskander.

Are there any cases of Iskander interception? Another question: can we intercept our own Iskander ourselves?

There were no confirmed combat cases of interception of Iskander.
Azerbaijan claims that Iskander was shot down near Baku by an Israeli Barak-8 missile defense system.
But he did not provide convincing evidence.
Theoretically, Iskander can bring down two Western systems:
the American SM-3 in the Aegis system and the Israeli Sling of David.
          And the Russian S-300/400.

Friend air defense officer, in the end ..., S400 couldn’t, s300v4 with a long-range missile can, but it also depends on how far they can detect

              31 March 2023 16: 54
C300B4 is the development of the C300 family, and C400 is the next generation. It makes sense to use an expensive S400 rocket when you can get by with a cheap analogue of the S300v4. It’s just that in the s400 there may well be still old stocks of launchers with speeds up to 1000m / s - 40N6E, 9M96M, and the new s3004v min has a speed of 1200-1800m / s, depending on the rocket in the container. And it’s quite possible that target designation from s400 to s300 can be transmitted if further than 100 km.

    Minimum range - 50 km
The range of the export version "Sapsan" (export name "Thunder-2") 280 km

The Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system is a modern medium-range anti-aircraft missile system. It is designed to destroy aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and other air targets at low and medium altitudes.* The armament of the Buk-M1 air defense system consists of 9M38 and 9M38M1 missiles. The 9M38 rocket has one stage with a dual-mode solid-propellant** rocket engine.
Missiles 9M38 and 9M38M1 differ from each other in technical characteristics. For example, the 9M38M1 missile has a long range. The mass of the equipped rocket 9M38M1 is 685 kg. The missile contains about 8000 fragmentation elements in the warhead, of which one in four is in the shape of a butterfly.
*(Flying altitude is the vertical distance from a certain datum to the aircraft. Low altitudes are flight altitudes up to 6000 meters. Medium altitudes are flight altitudes between 6000 and 12000 meters.)

"The fuel consumption (avg.) of the Abrams tank is 455 liters per 100 km. (The fuel consumption of the Abrams tanks is 3,6-7,1 l / km. The Abrams tank uses kerosene as fuel. The AGT-1500 engine with a power of 1500 hp . consumes 450-520 liters per 100 km on the highway at a speed of 55-60 km / h In winter, it increases due to the need to warm up the engine)
Tank T-72 can use different types of fuel. Diesel fuel of the DL, DZ and DA brands, A-66 and A-72 gasolines and T-1, TS-1 and TS-2 kerosenes can be used as fuel. In addition, this is a multi-fuel engine that can consume both diesel fuel and low-octane gasoline or diesel fuel.
Fuel consumption for the T-72 tank can depend on many factors, such as speed and operating conditions. For example, fuel consumption per 100 km for a tank can be between 430 and 500 liters on the highway at a speed of 60-65 km/h and between 460 and 790 liters on rough terrain at a speed of 40-45 km/h. The number of tanks in an Armed Forces brigade may depend on many factors, such as the type of brigade and its purpose. For example, a tank brigade can have from 31 to 40 tanks.
To calculate the amount of fuel for 40 T-72 tanks for a run of 100 km along the highway, it is necessary to multiply the fuel consumption per 100 km of run for one tank by the number of tanks and by the distance in kilometers. Thus, for 40 T-72 tanks for a run of 100 km along the highway the highway needs about 20 liters of fuel.
To transport 20 liters of fuel, you need to know the volume of one tank. The volume of the tank may depend on its type and size. For example, to transport 000 liters of fuel in 20 m³ tanks, about 000 tanks are needed." bing chat works for the benefit of Russian intelligence
