All flights from Israel's main air harbor have been suspended. Due to massive protests in the country against the reform of the judiciary, Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport has suspended operations.
This is reported by one of the leading newspapers in Israel Haaretz.
Reception and departure of flights are suspended. The decision to close Ben Gurion was taken by the Israeli National Airport Workers Union as part of a nationwide general strike. The closure of flights was announced by its leader.
Only through dialogue can we achieve anything
- he said.
The shutdown of the main air harbor of the State of Israel forced its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to announce a freeze on judicial reform. He previously discussed this intention with the leaders of the ruling coalition. Sources of the newspaper claim that later today the head of government will announce the decision officially.
Earlier, Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin threatened to resign if the reform was cancelled. Israeli journalists believe that he will not dare to take such a step.
It was assumed that today about 73 passengers were supposed to depart or arrive at Ben Gurion Airport.
A massive strike in Israel to protest judicial reform began yesterday. About 600 Israelis have already taken part in it, which is about six percent of the country's population. Israeli citizens continue to join the protests.
