The lead submarine of project 677 "St. Petersburg" was sent for repair with possible modernization

The lead diesel-electric submarine of project 677 "St. Petersburg" will undergo repairs, at present the submarine is already in the Baltic, although the inter-naval transition fleet the Baltic Ministry of Defense did not report.

The diesel-electric submarine "St. Petersburg" is currently in Kronstadt awaiting repairs. According to an informed source in the Russian military-industrial complex, the submarine can be sent to the Admiralty Shipyards for work, although maintenance of diesel-electric submarines is traditionally carried out at the Kronstadt Marine Plant.

Submarine "St. Petersburg" is in Kronstadt awaiting repair. Most likely, it will be carried out at the manufacturing plant - "Admiralty Shipyards", and not at the Kronstadt Marine Plant

- leads TASS source words.

He did not explain what this was connected with, but earlier unofficial information flashed that the submarine could change the composition of weapons by introducing Caliber cruise missiles into it during modernization. Serial submarines of the project "Lada" were armed with "Caliber" from the very beginning, while the lead submarine was armed only with torpedoes and mines.

The lead submarine "St. Petersburg" of project 677 was laid down on the stocks of the "Admiralty Shipyards" in December 1997, launched on October 28, 2004. The construction of the submarine was difficult, repeatedly stopped due to lack of funding or the elimination of design flaws. In April 2010, the submarine was transferred to the Russian Navy for trial operation, which she took place in the Northern Fleet.

In 2020, the Saint Petersburg was sent to the Kronstadt Marine Plant for repair and modernization, and in 2021 the submarine was introduced into the Northern Fleet as an independent combat unit.

Project 677 submarines of the Lada type belong to the fourth generation of diesel-electric submarines. Differ in the low level of noise. The submarine displacement is 1765 tons, length is 67 meters, width is 7 meters, underwater speed is 21 knots, immersion depth is more than 300 meters, autonomy is 45 days. The submarine is equipped with six 533-mm torpedo tubes.

They want to bring St. Petersburg of project 677 in terms of weapons to the level of Kronstadt and Velikiye Luki of project 677D.

The construction - not according to the project, the raisins in the form of VNEU - never happened, the necessary weapons complex has not been worked out, only 10 years of "very experienced" operation (I don’t think that the boat has not crawled out of autonomy during this time) - and welcome to repairs, normal batteries like on enemy boats - no, BIUS and GAK were conceived and designed 30 years ago, torpedo weapons - appropriate, at first the timpani rattled - that "Lada" is "an extramarital mistake of one night" and the USC is about to give birth to itself " legitimate" "Kalina", but that one also somehow withered before it had time to bloom ... but now we write on all the fences that with the proven "Varshavyankas" we will coolly pull the phedron to their Davy Jones ... but it looks better at the parade ... just like in an interlude by Vadim Galygin - "... and the Italians also have a Nina Ricci tank, it doesn't drive, doesn't shoot, but it's very beautiful..."

After ten years of trial operation, it turned out that there were not enough mines and torpedoes to arm the submarine. At the same time, several hundred corrections, additions and adjustments were made to the design even at the construction stage. Enchanting. And no one is to blame that the boat is either there or not.

Yes, there they will simply modernize under the use of the same Caliber or Answer. Most likely. The launched Kronstadt and Velikiye Luki have already been brought to mind, and St. Petersburg is always being redone, apparently its fate is like that.

          Quote from Orange Bigg
St. Petersburg is always being remodeled, it is clear that this is his fate.

Soldatov V.: - she honestly worked out her debt. And the fact that project 677 went into series is her merit.
Here are two opinions of respected colleagues. Both are probably correct. But none of them asked the question: - Why did it all happen?
And the answer is as simple as a trilinear! They wanted to save money, to do without lengthy coastal bench tests ... because, as always, there was not enough money and the project was financed by the "search for opportunities" method. But there was another good idea (hope) to quickly put the project into practice. And it was not at all simple: more than 130 NEW PRODUCTS were installed on the boat, which is 2 times higher than the accepted norms of "novelty", which are determined by no more than 20-25%. The boat did not wait for the promised ECH-based AIP (by the way, according to the designers' intention, it was also new, based on diesel fuel reforming with ultrapure H2 production right on board). For a very long time, they were muddling with a single ED with the excitation of windings based on permanent magnets ...
And such problems can be listed up to the carrot spell. Cause? - why the boat has "such a fate" = Good intentions ... leading the ship to 10 years of experimental operation in the Northern Fleet. But in fact, it was the time of bench testing of new models of equipment, checking the correctness of technical solutions, but not on the stand, but on a living ship, hovering between acceptance into the Navy and the desire of shipbuilders "to quickly get rid of the unlucky child" ...
And yet, "his example is science for others! But, my God! What a bore" ... (C) And I want to write about this - "what a bitch!" instead of first working out, and then pushing new models of weapons and military equipment onto the ship, she made a "test bench" out of the combat unit, dooming the crew "to run with obstacles over rough terrain" in the hope of soon getting rid of the professionals on board and the start of "independent sailing" ...
However, this is all poetry. The main thing is the result. And the result is this: there is still no VNEU, and the performance characteristics laid down in the project have not yet been fully achieved. But there are encouraging "leaks". St. Petersburg turned out to be quieter than the best Ama Virgin (block V), mastered the HAC based on LF GPBA, and confirmed its ability to work in high latitudes at low temperatures and in "difficult ice conditions". 677A project is quite an anti-submarine submarine. The question of its further improvement remains open.
Therefore, St. Petersburg will not be written off anywhere (as suggested by colleague Soldatov V. Segodnya, 16:47), but will be modernized and will continue to operate as part of the PS KSF, as the judges say, "in connection with the newly discovered circumstances of the case." laughing

Boa! Why compare a battery with a nuclear-powered ship? Compare with competitors....

The boat "St. Petersburg with a difficult fate. Designed in the Soviet era. Laid down in the dashing nineties, assembled from what was, launched in the XNUMXs. No one really took care of it.
And the fact that she went to sea is a miracle. But she did her due diligence. And the fact that project 677 went into series is her merit. But I think (many people won't like it) it should be written off. 27 years for iron, cables, glands, soundproofing for a submarine is a lot. Is there any point in spending billions on repairing a boat to write it off in five years. It is better to spend this money on building a new boat. soldier

The displacement is not 1765 tons, as the author writes, but 2650 tons, (the boat is underwater) and then today a diesel submarine is not considered some kind of miracle of technology (however, like a hundred years ago) and project 677 is no exception, but what needs repair, served on north. .Why it took a long time to build, most likely they could not decide which type of VNEU to choose and how to place it in the boat, there is still no answer to the question. It can be definitely stated that any VNEU seriously complicates everything, increases the cost - design, construction, operation. By the way, double-hull boats have a critical shortage of free volume inside a strong hull and it is impossible to put VNEU without freeing up space for it, that is, at the beginning it is necessary to reduce something, fuel, ammunition or otherwise, it would be logical to reduce the water in the ballast tanks of which there is already 33% ( 2650t-1675t=885t )

Drank money from the budget for this project fret very much. And time was spent on it for more than 10 years, but the stated goals and performance characteristics were never achieved. The project ended up being a failure. With the resources spent on it, it was possible to build a dozen Warsaw women.

"Project 677 submarines of the Lada type belong to the fourth generation of diesel-electric submarines."

who refers it to the 4th generation, if the main feature of the 4th generation is VNEU?
