Britain began transferring 155-mm AS-90 self-propelled howitzers destined for Ukraine to Poland
The UK has begun delivering the promised AS-90 self-propelled artillery mounts to Ukraine. Currently, howitzers are being transferred to Poland, from where they will be moved to the territory of Ukraine.
British 155-mm AS-90 self-propelled guns were seen in Poland, transported on roads by road. Most likely, howitzers are being delivered to Rzeszow, where the NATO logistics hub, created specifically for the transfer of military aid to Ukraine, is located. The number of deployed equipment is not called, but earlier the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom promised Zelensky to supply at least 30 (thirty) AS-90 self-propelled guns.
The fact that the UK will provide Ukraine with "additional support" was announced in London in mid-January this year. At the same time, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, called Zelensky and delighted him with new supplies, promising, in addition to tanks also supply a "big batch" of AS155 90mm self-propelled howitzers. Preliminary, at least 30 units.
In early February, the British Ministry of Defense announced the launch of a program to train crews of the AS-90 self-propelled guns, as well as the arrival of a group of Ukrainian military personnel in the UK. At the same time, it was confirmed that Ukraine would receive 30 self-propelled howitzers.
- said in the British military department.
Meanwhile, as it became known, the British themselves intend to replace the obsolete AS-90 self-propelled guns sent to Ukraine with Swedish Archer wheeled howitzers.
