The representative of the US Air Force did not answer the journalist's question about how successful the next flight tests of hypersonic weapons were.
The US Air Force confirmed information about the continuation of flight tests of its Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (AGM-183 ARRW) hypersonic missiles, but the question of their success still remains unclear.
The launch of the Lockheed Martin ARRW prototype was carried out by a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber off the coast of southern California, according to the US Air Force. During the second test of a hypersonic weapons (the first took place in December last year), special attention was paid to its combat effectiveness.
As for the first test, the country's Air Force claimed that the hypersonic speed of the rocket exceeded Mach 5, then, having completed its flight path, it exploded. They also clarified that the engineers and specialists involved in the production of ARRW continued to collect all the necessary data for further analysis. In the first case, the test passed with the participation of the 412th Test Wing unit of the US Air Force on aviation Edwards base in California.
It is noteworthy that one of the representatives of the US Air Force, when asked by a correspondent of one of the American publications about whether it was successful, refused to provide any details, citing measures to ensure the secrecy of operations. In the United States itself, this gave reason to doubt the results that they wanted to get from the tests. After all, earlier any, even the smallest success, was immediately voiced and demonstrated very actively during the tests.
