Reconnaissance aircraft and RAF fighters spotted not far from Crimea
A Royal Air Force Boeing RC-135W Rivet Joint reconnaissance aircraft was spotted today in the sky off the coast of the Crimean peninsula. This follows from the data of the special flight tracking service Flightradar.
Interestingly, the reconnaissance aircraft was escorted by two Eurofighter Typhoon multirole fighters with the call signs DREAD011 and DREAD012. The planes were flying with transponders turned off. The service recorded their location about 100 kilometers from the Russian peninsula.
It is known that at about 17:30 Moscow time, the plane made a circle over Romania, after which it flew in an easterly direction. Then the reconnaissance aircraft and the fighters accompanying it turned in the opposite direction.
Also at this time, an Airbus KC2 Voyager multi-purpose tanker aircraft with the callsign RRR9954 was flying near the peninsula. This aircraft, in turn, took off from RAF Brize Norton Air Base and also flew over the Romanian coast from 16:00.
Such a frequent appearance of aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles of NATO countries over the Black Sea, including in the immediate vicinity of the Crimean Peninsula, may be due to obtaining information about the locations and activities of the Russian armed forces, including the Black Sea Fleet. This information may be required by Western military intelligence to pass on to Ukrainian formations, since the Kiev regime does not hide its plans to attack the Crimean peninsula.
