Matilda Bogner, head of the UN monitoring mission for human rights in Ukraine, said that the organization registered at least 25 cases of reprisals by militants of the Kiev regime over captured Russian servicemen, but declined to name the exact number of such cases.
According to Agence France-Presse, during a press conference in Kiev, the head of the UN mission expressed deep concern about the cases of arbitrary killing of about 25 captured Russian soldiers and persons who ceased to participate in hostilities committed by representatives of the Ukrainian armed forces. All identified cases are documented.
Bogner emphasized that most of the killings took place immediately after the soldiers surrendered. At the same time, the UN monitoring mission does not have any information about cases of criminal prosecution against the perpetrators by the Ukrainian authorities.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that in the vast majority of cases, Russian servicemen captured by Ukraine are tortured and beaten, and are deprived of the opportunity to contact their relatives. Many are forced to participate in the filming of propaganda videos. Often, after the exchange, people return from Ukraine with broken teeth, fractures and other types of injuries and mutilations.
