It is known that the German engineering tank Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs, which is also called the "Badger", is an auxiliary armored vehicle based on the main battle tank Leopard 1. This vehicle is equipped with a large hydraulic excavator boom and dozer blade.
Such a tank is used by engineering units to carry out a number of important works - freeing roads from blockages, clearing territories, digging trenches and creating trenches and dugouts, carrying out any type of construction work that requires powerful special equipment.
The crew of an engineering tank consists of only three people - this is the commander of the vehicle, the driver and another crew member who performs auxiliary functions. The driver-mechanic controls the tank itself and engineering equipment, the commander is responsible for radio communication with the command of the unit and controls the anti-aircraft machine gun that the tank is equipped with.
Currently, such engineering tanks are used by units of the German Bundeswehr, as well as the armed forces of Canada and Chile. Now they are also in service with Ukrainian formations.
It is possible that the Kiev regime will want to use this technique to ensure the upcoming counter-offensive, which has been constantly announced by both the Ukrainian and Western press of late.
