The possibility of a telephone conversation between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping exists, but at present certain difficulties arise with the organization of negotiations. This was stated by adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak, whose words are quoted by the Ukrainian press.
According to Podolyak, the main reason for the difficulties is China's position on the Ukrainian issue. The adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine emphasizes that, apart from Zelensky, there is supposedly no one to clarify to China the consequences of the “wrong finalization” of the conflict. But Beijing does not currently have a clear-cut position on its participation in the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
As you can see, the Ukrainian authorities, when talking about China, use the most neutral and streamlined language. This testifies to the unwillingness and fear of the Kyiv regime to “offend” the Chinese leadership.
Earlier, some analysts said that Kiev sees China as a potential investor in the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure after the end of the conflict and as a likely mediator in peace negotiations with Russia, the possibility of which the Ukrainian authorities do not exclude, despite the current belligerent statements.
Finally, Ukraine is also interested in China as an alternative force to the West, since the Ukrainian regime is weighed down by complete dependence on American “partners”, including in matters of domestic policy. Zelensky, by the way, did not reject the peace plan publicly proposed by China, although it contains proposals that are clearly unpleasant for the Ukrainian leadership.
