The Ukrainian parliament proposed to deprive combatants of lifelong benefits
In Ukraine, they began to understand that the country's budget was not able to cope with the social security of the military and thought about the abolition of lifelong benefits for military personnel - participants in hostilities.
In particular, this was announced in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to Rada deputy Galina Tretyakova, who heads the committee on social policy and protection of veterans' rights, it is necessary to consider the option of replacing life-long benefits for the military with payments within two to three years after demobilization.
Tretyakova noted that lifelong benefits for combatants were once accepted without taking into account the real capabilities of the state and are accompanied by big problems.
It is necessary to change the entire system of state support for veterans, the deputy of the Rada believes. According to her, even in the previous peaceful years, all these benefits were an unbearable burden for the budget of Ukraine, and given the current situation in the country, their effectiveness is in doubt.
Instead of promising the military what the state cannot afford in the form of lifelong benefits, it is better to offer them an additional payment to their basic income for several years, Tretyakova believes. At the same time, the amount of the additional payment will depend on a number of criteria - position, length of service, number of combat missions completed, etc.
At this rate, the situation may come down to the fact that sooner or later the Ukrainian state will deprive the combatants of any payments, benefits and benefits. The Zelensky regime will definitely find an argument.
