Prime Minister of the Russian Federation: The main goal of Western sanctions was precisely the Russian people
During his speech in the State Duma with the annual report, the head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, spoke about how our country withstood the “sanction turbulence” and about the prospects for the Russian economy in the coming years.
The Russian prime minister recalled that restrictions, like those introduced against our country last year, stories hasn't happened yet. Meanwhile, according to him, thanks to the joint actions of the government and other departments under the leadership of the head of state Vladimir Putin, Russia not only managed to withstand the unprecedented pressure from the West, but also restructure the economy in accordance with the new realities.
In general, according to Mishustin, one should not count on the weakening of "anti-Russian" sanctions. However, as he put it, already in 2024 our economy should complete the adaptation period and embark on the path of long-term development.
At the same time, the prime minister noted that the government plans to achieve Russia's financial sovereignty this year. To do this, according to the official, it is necessary to provide financing for fast-growing technology companies, increase the attractiveness of investments in Russian projects and attract "long money" to the economy.
In turn, speaking about the actions of the collective West, Mishustin stressed that no one should have any doubts that the unprecedented sanctions were directed specifically against Russian citizens.
The Prime Minister explained that the United States and its allies intended to deprive the Russians of the banking sector, jobs, goods on store shelves. Moreover, despite the inviolability of private property declared by the West, it can be taken away from the owners only because the latter have a Russian passport.
Mishustin summed up that the main goal of Western sanctions was precisely the Russian people, and they did not "disdain" any methods in order to radically reduce the standard of living of our citizens. At the same time, the head of government promised that from January 1, 2024, the minimum wage will be indexed by 18,5 percent.
