How Ukraine is forced to fight with weapons

How Ukraine is forced to fight with weapons

Within one year, the enemy received military assistance in an amount exceeding Ukraine's own military spending for 30 years of "independence".

The results of such "demilitarization" are self-explanatory. The Ukrainian army had not seen modern technology for decades before. Therefore, each howitzer delivered from Europe or the USA causes puppy delight, creating the illusion of impressive support.

Deliveries of heavy weapons and military equipment can be divided into three categories.

A) Soviet-style equipment, from the surviving stocks in the territory of Eastern Europe.

B) Obsolete or low priority samples of Western military equipment.

C) Modern weapons with high combat capabilities.

Let's consider each category in more detail.

Soviet heritage

The solution with the supply of Soviet-style equipment was the least expensive for the sponsors of the Kyiv regime.

Mastering this technique did not take much time. Simplified issues of supply and repair.

Samples supplied from abroad tanks and infantry fighting vehicles were difficult to distinguish from Ukrainian military equipment, which allowed the West to hide the extent of support and its involvement in the crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Letter trains crossing the border of Ukraine with Polish T-72s and BVP-1s installed on platforms caused less public outcry. Unlike the samples of the Western weapons.

BVP-1s - Czechoslovak licensed copy of the BMP-1

Having exhausted the stocks of Soviet equipment, the West changed tactics and switched to the supply of a different range of weapons.

Old junk or antiques?

Such weapons are supplied in appreciable quantities. Frames of destroyed M113 armored personnel carriers are visible on the footage from the combat zone. However, this is not Vietnam. As they say, the wrong napalm.

British light armored personnel carriers "Spartan" were seen, celebrating their half-century anniversary. Next - "Humvees" and army trucks. Various variants of M109 self-propelled guns removed from storage, along with towed artillery systems of 105 and 155 mm caliber of all generations and ages.

Not every sample is outdated, but all deliveries have one condition in common. This technique has a low priority, from the point of view of the armies of NATO countries.

The "elite" motorized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are still waiting for the arrival of Western infantry fighting vehicles. In the absence of Marders and Bradleys, they have to move around in M1224 armored vehicles. Kyiv received over 400 units of such equipment from the stocks of the US Army.

What was the secret of Uncle Sam's generosity?

Armored trucks with turrets and mine protection are incomparable in cost and military value with heavy armored vehicles (Marder, Bradley). MRAPs are relatively cheap and produced in huge quantities. In the past decade, over 9000 M1224 type armored cars were built.

It was from this "trough" that the Ukrainian Nazis were fed.

MRAP standard vehicles have their own tactical niche and compare favorably with security. However, these armored cars are never considered as full-fledged infantry transport and combat vehicles. Something toy, like tents or non-lethal weapons. As a result, even neutral Turkey without hesitation handed over fifty vehicles of this class to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (BMC Kirpi, or in Russian - “Hedgehog”).

All the facts indicate that no one dares to supply hundreds of expensive military equipment to Ukraine.

Is the same story with super-howitzers M777. Despite the "advanced" design and the widespread use of titanium, the M777 howitzer remains a towed artillery system. And that's it.

In the US Army itself, towed artillery of this caliber is of limited use. Most of the 1000 purchased "sevens" were transferred to the marines or used to equip parts of the reservists. "Soldiers on weekends" is too expensive to use self-propelled artillery.

Unlike the American Marines, the Armed Forces cannot appreciate the main quality of the M777 - the ability to transport it on the external load of a helicopter. Why was this tool created?

In total, Ukraine received about 150 M777 units. Compare this number with the recent pledge to supply 18 Paladin self-propelled howitzers.

It becomes clear why the towed 777 was chosen for lend-lease. And how reluctant the Pentagon is to part with weapons that are of great importance to the American army.

Homeopathic remedies

Samples of Western weapons with high combat capabilities. The promised Patriot air defense system, NASAMS, Panzerhaubitze 2000. In microscopic quantities.

Last year, the range of weapons of this level supplied to Ukraine was limited to only artillery and missile systems. At the same time, some of them were delivered with reduced capabilities. For example, there is no evidence of the provision of long-range missiles (ATACMS) for the Hymars complexes.

The designation "Hymars" is used for all types of installations using 227 mm GLRMS guided projectiles. This is directly M142 HIMARS based on three-axle army trucks. Tracked M270 on an extended chassis BMP "Bradley". And all similar European modifications of MARS and LRU.

Kyiv received various types of MLRS from the very beginning of the conflict. For example, the Czech RM-70 "Vampire" - "Grad" on a new chassis, with the ability to quickly reload. But in the case of the Hymars, they do not finish the main thing. Aimed destruction of point targets was never included in the tasks of multiple launch rocket systems. Not MLRS, but tactical missile systems with six guides fell into the hands of the Nazis. Whose guided munitions have a CVO of less than 10 meters.

Fortunately, no one is in a hurry to transfer such weapons in large quantities. The combined efforts of the United States, Great Britain, Germany and France sent "about 50 units" to Ukraine on various types of chassis. Less than 5% of complexes of this class and purpose available in the west.

Tank beatalon 2023

The first move in this game was made by the French, who promised Kyiv "wheeled tanks" with a combat weight of 17 tons.

Rates immediately rose, but the ratio remained unchanged. The most powerful and modern models of armored vehicles are supposed to be supplied in quantities sufficient to form only one or two tank companies.

Everything else is far from the latest modifications of Western tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.

90 Strykers and 109 Bradleys - against the background of long promises to transfer three dozen Abrams MBTs. The issue with American tanks should be resolved this year. Or next...

Europeans behave in a similar way. No one is in a hurry to tear off the most valuable thing from the chest for the sake of Zelensky's requests.

18 Leopard-2 tanks of the A6 modification of the 2001 model are offered as assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

All other promised Leopards belong to the A4 modification (level of 1985) or are generally the first generation Leopards (Leopard-1A5), which were promised in the amount of 100+ units.

The advantage of the old "Leopards" for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is only one. They already have experience in operating similar equipment - Bieber bridgelayers and Gepard anti-aircraft guns using the Leopard-1 chassis.

The transfer to Ukraine of the most modern Western models, such as the German Puma infantry fighting vehicle, is beyond fantasy. The maximum for beggars from Kyiv is the supply of 40 "Marders", previously intended for the armed forces of Greece. Of course, the conversation about the supply of "Marders" arose - and again hung in the air. Run like Scholz!

The American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles delivered to Europe, for subsequent transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, also belong to not the most recent modification of the M2A2 Desert Storm.

All according to the rules of the big game. Support with money and rusty weapons, with undisguised disdain for the Ukrainian Nazis.

The author of this material does not seek to become like experts who say that the supply of certain types of equipment will not matter.

Searching for and describing flaws in the technique itself also does not make much sense.

Yes, there is rust on the sides and considerable mileage. But at the same time, the Bradley M2A2 ODS has a mass of about 30 tons, which is twice as heavy as domestic infantry fighting vehicles. The machine itself has no frills in terms of weapons, the difference of 15 tons was spent on strengthening the protection. These infantry fighting vehicles are carriers of the Tou ATGM. Old, but even more dangerous due to the size of its missiles than the light hand-held Javelin.

But the fact remains. What does a hundred "Bradley" mean - against the backdrop of the scale of the NWO. In the presence of thousands of units of BMP-class equipment in service with the Russian Ground Forces.

Finale

It is alarming that the appearance of any type of Western military equipment in the NWO zone causes too much noise.

The enemy must be taken seriously. But attaching importance to every NATO gun and Leopard, justifying any mistakes made with them or creating panic from scratch - all this just looks like inadequate behavior.

Remember how much noise the arrival of Caesar self-propelled howitzers in Ukraine made last summer?

The main number of "Caesars" is by no means in Europe, and even more so - not with beggars from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The French ground forces last year had 76 CAmion Équipé d'un Système d'Artillerie (CAESAR) units. Some of them were handed over to Kyiv. All this time, more than 100 "Caesars" guard the sands of Saudi Arabia, where weapons from all over the world are traditionally collected.

The artillery unit and fire control means pose a threat at a distance of up to 40 km. But the use of "Caesar" also has limitations. Wheel formula 6x6 - instead of the tank chassis and the cross-country ability of the 40-ton Msta-S tracked platform. With three times less portable ammunition (18 instead of 50 shells in the ammo rack). In the absence of any armor protection.

A couple of years ago news about the arrival of a dozen Western guns in Ukraine would fall into the category of curiosities.

Last summer they were talked about incessantly. Many times managed to "sell" and destroy. Discussed ways to counter the French "wonder weapon".

Then, of course, everything calmed down, and the "Caesars" disappeared somewhere - after the deadly "javelins" and indestructible "bayraktars".

Time will pass - and the same thing will happen with all the Leopards and Bradleys.

Self-propelled howitzer M109A4BE. These installations were decommissioned by the Belgian army in 2008. Due to their age, they are unable to use Excalibur high-precision projectiles. A common disadvantage is the short-barreled gun (39 calibers). For comparison, modern "Caesar" and PzH 2000 use an artillery unit with a barrel length of 52 caliber.

this is not from a weapon, but from a misunderstanding of "SVO", which began like in a movie, and now like in real life. "target" in the fog. Moreover, from the other side, as it were, "for Nenko", but from ours ... we don't know. yes, against the "Natsiks" and "Benderites", and to secure the region, (it turned out to be a problem. A YEAR has passed, the shelling is still) we are losing the city, occupying the villages ... so-so SVO. Artyomovsk, the "orchestra" cleans for a long time, grinding the enemy, and yourself. (of course, you can’t get around and leave surrounded), and such a “burden” has been for 14 months already, everyone has already got used to the “civilian” as a fact, and they hardly discuss it, well ... there is a meat grinder working there somewhere, they are used to , flipping through the channels (and what to watch if it’s the same thing) they brought another 200 to the city .. 2 days on the “front end”, well, CBO is ... it happens. Something needs to be changed, the people both get tired and become indifferent. and this is fraught with consequences.

In principle, about the fatigue of the population of the Russian Federation from SVO.
She, fatigue, will gain strength starting from 2024 and her peak will be in the summer of the same year. In what way will it appear? YES HZ. The population of the country, gradually, begins to lose confidence in the Supreme authorities. There are many factors that speak to this. The main one is the growing apathy for military operations, at the everyday level.

Let's see what the authorities will do in the near future. But, we need BIG VICTORIES at the front.

There is an option to supply the Ukrainian Air Force with 50-80 F-16 fighters from the presence of the US Armed Forces to replace the Ukrainian fleet of Soviet-made ones. This will cost the American taxpayer about $3-4 billion. And again, the timing - according to the most optimistic estimates, the delivery time will be at least 18 months at best. Eo too long. Therefore, instead of the F-16, the Americans offered Ukraine what is now of the greatest importance in the conduct of armed struggle, and precisely what can lead the Armed Forces of Ukraine to major successes this spring. These are air defense systems, ammunition for cannon and rocket artillery, HIMARS combat vehicles and ammunition for them (including increased range by 150 km), unmanned aerial vehicles, armored combat vehicles, including Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and tanks.

100~200 F-16s, ~100 F-15s, ~100 F-18s from Davis-Monten Base in about 6 months, with mercenaries and vacationers to boot. This will just be an equal amount with our VKS.
The current war is extremely beneficial to the United States and this is the only significant reason for the lack of mass arms supplies.

With your lips, yes, drink honey! The Armed Forces of Ukraine have big losses - I believe. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have problems with mobilization - I believe. But the Armed Forces of Ukraine already have 800-1000 thousand, and the Armed Forces of Russia at the front have (yet?) only 450-500 thousand, according to optimistic estimates. That is: a hundred thousand more APUs will lose or two hundred, from this the situation will not change much. crying

And as for lack of motivation: to die - now no one has much enthusiasm. But in initiative, steadfastness, unwillingness to give in, with this, as this year has shown, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have no particular problems. The Ukrainian army forced itself to be respected, an unpleasant fact, but a fact. recourse

The answer is I think everyone understands why. And there's no point in taking it apart

When I wrote about modern ships, there always arose a paradox of how they were going to fight with 1 ship against 100 of the same class in the west. Well, really, just compare the numbers and facts. Against the backdrop of calls, we can repeat. I thought this waste - a smoke screen, while they are sawing money. But it turned out they were really preparing for the war. Schizophrenics?

If they did not prepare for hostilities of this magnitude, hoping to cope with 40 million countries alone, thinking to themselves that there is no army, then schizophrenics are doubly

I thought there were no ships, at least there were ground forces. There must clearly be an advantage there, no matter what. Such weakness that was revealed, of course, surprised even the most skeptics

Why, then, we haven’t been able to smash this rubbish for more than a year and put old ship anti-aircraft guns on motorcycle leagues ..

The most surprising thing about this schizophrenia is the regularly announced “campaigns against Warsaw”, “partitions of Poland with the Baltic states” and other waving of checkers, and all this against the backdrop of Avdiivka, which they cannot take for a year. Either they really believe in it themselves, which, to put it mildly, smells of a white ticket, or they are fooling the people, which of course is understandable, but it can end even sadder

The performance data is excellent. But our "unparalleled in the world" against obsolete scrap, as the author writes, does not allow anything particularly successful to attack.
Not every sample is outdated, but all deliveries have one condition in common. This technique has a low priority from the point of view of the armies of NATO countries.

Interesting, how would you describe the priority of the T-62 "... from the point of view of the country's army" Russia?
Rates immediately rose, but the ratio remained unchanged. The most powerful and modern models of armored vehicles are supposed to be supplied in quantities sufficient to form only one or two tank companies.

Does the application of this analysis to the T-90 tell you anything?

No priority, it's a forced measure

The capabilities of such equipment are still enough to fight the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The use of the T-62, due to the lack of modern tanks, in a hypothetical "war on NATO" would have the most serious consequences.

In 1941, the German army had light and medium tanks, for the most part not much superior to the Soviet ones. And in terms of heavy tanks, it was catastrophically inferior. But, having superiority in communications and intelligence, coordination of different types of troops, the Germans achieved very significant success.

    Like real NATO armies

If this hundred howitzers shoot almost everything you have in range and the SLA allows you to conduct counter-battery combat very effectively, then yes, this is a problem.
NATO members do not constantly move on Strikers and Bradleys, they ride around Syria on mraps and humvees. In a war, you not only need to go on the attack, you need transport to get to the LBS, leave the LBS, move in the near rear and all vehicles must be armored, in war personnel should not ride in UAZs and tented Urals, so the M1224 is a very useful technique.

180 divisions were not armed with sticks.

Firstly, Ukraine is armed with more than a hundred towed howitzers, the same Soviet models are fighting on the one and the other side, the sets of weapons are plus or minus the same, the main problem of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that got out after a couple of months is the lack of Soviet-style shells. But 100 M777 is a very useful acquisition when you have online, on the enemy’s sighting fire, from satellites, from drones, from counter-battery radars, information comes to the tablet integrated into the howitzer and you just have to turn the aiming flywheels and pull the cord for the opposite hand is an unpleasant surprise. And 155mm self-propelled howitzers with 52klb barrels are also beyond the reach of Russian artillery.
No one talks about the fact that the Wehrmacht was armed with sticks, but there were no supermega wunderwaffles in service with the Germans in 1941, the same thing in terms of characteristics for 1941 is far from an outstanding aircraft, only the Germans ordered the strike of pieces from a trench on the front line, but the Red Army did not dreamed of calling pe-2. In fact, two sides seriously erred in this war:

    1) we wanted to "take Kyiv" in a week, hence all the nonsense with the number of personnel, equipment, planning and conduct of military operations. Did not work out.

    2) the Americans assumed that we would "seize Ukraine in a week" and therefore prepared them not for full-fledged military operations, but for a guerrilla war with us. The desire to arrange a "second Afghanistan" for us, with our inevitable losses and subsequent shameful departure a la the flight of amers from Kabul. With inevitable image losses and a possible threat to the very existence of the power vertical of the Russian Federation. Hence the pumping of exceptionally light weapons
    - Stingers / Javelins (because it was assumed that we would get heavy weapons), and the corresponding training of troops. It didn’t work out either, you have to rebuild on the go.

This may explain various absurdities and actions on both sides of the war. In particular, our unwillingness to capture vast territories and the desire for the maximum "grinding" of the troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As well as a strategy to "squeeze out" the population of Ukraine abroad, creating unbearable living conditions.

It is also understandable why the Americans and gay Europeans do not seek to supply the latest weapons: they need to bleed us as much as possible, but not provoke the use of nuclear weapons on our part. Any, even limited, nuclear war will lead to the destruction of the industrial potential of Europe (in the United States it is still only a "shadow" of the past) and the destruction of the international financial system. This will lead in the presence of developed China, India, etc. to the complete degradation of the United States and the Western bloc and the loss of their position. They will no longer be able to rise: if Western currencies, including the dollar and the euro, turn into worthless "pieces of paper", then in the absence of an industrial base, what will they be able to offer the rest? Partially lost during the year of hostilities, the rest are in service

The Armed Forces of Ukraine seemed to have only a few hundred tanks by the beginning of the war. Common data:

in 2014 year tank troops were armed with 620-680 tanks, as well as armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles and other equipment[189]. According to other sources, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had 616 T-64 vehicles of various modifications, 85 Bulat tanks and, presumably, 10 T-84 Oplot tanks (which are under military trials)

With that attitude towards the army in the post-Soviet countries, out of 700 supposedly in service, half were actually on the move.

For the same reason that Russia did not have "thousands" of tanks and the idea suddenly arose with the advent of the T-62M, bypassing the seemingly newer T-72. (in fact, these T-62s of the southern military district, which were in service until 2008, i.e., until recently they were actively used and were on the move, unlike the "thousands" in service and in storage 72x)

They didn’t have forever young T62, so they are waiting for a hundred leopards of any generation

As for our and Ukrainian tanks “in storage”, nothing has remained of them for 30+ years of such storage. An example with the sudden appearance of the T-62 once again confirmed this

Where do you think the Ukrainian tanks and guns went?

Partially lost during the year of hostilities, the rest are in service

Data on the number of armored vehicles in the Armed Forces of Ukraine varies, according to some reports, at the beginning of the SVO they had about 1500 vehicles in service and a program was launched to restore and modernize the T-64 from storage. They come across T-80s in their commercials, and with a thermal imager.

Unfortunately, the author is overly optimistic. But, oddly enough, this optimism is only depressing. Especially about "5%". And what will happen when the West uses the remaining 95%?
