UAV400T, part of the Bolkpost-4T complex
A new complex for long-range thermal imaging reconnaissance for the Russian military was developed by specialists from the Astron Optical-Mechanical Design Bureau, which is part of the Shvabe holding. At the moment, the complex has already been tested and entered the stage of creating the first samples.
According to the director general of the organization, Vladimir Popov, the complex for long-range thermal imaging intelligence with intelligent analytics was called "Checkpoint-4T". To get a more complete picture, a special drone with a thermal imager is integrated into the complex. The complex also includes ground-based thermal imaging stations that can see a person at a distance of 800 meters, and equipment - up to 2 km. The drone sees targets at a distance of up to 6 km. All information is displayed on the monitor screen, and the built-in video analytics highlights the detected objects to help the operator.
(...) for both optical and thermal imaging tools, there is always a dilemma - either you have a large field of view, or you provide high image detail (...) We thought that integrating a "flying thermal imager" into the ground surveillance system will allow non-standard and rather elegant solution to this dilemma
Moreover, the UAV400T thermal imaging reconnaissance drone, which is mass-produced and very actively used in the NVO zone since last year, was integrated into the complex. It was also developed by the Astron Design Bureau specifically for use in a special operation, it is a quadrocopter with a Russian thermal imager installed, designed for reconnaissance.
