Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent trip to the city of Mariupol in the Russian Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is, according to a number of American and British media, an "act of defiance." Probably, we are talking about “disobedience” also to the recent decision of the “International Criminal Court”, which issued an “arrest warrant” for the Russian president.
CNN, for example, calls Putin "recalcitrant" and notes that he went to Mariupol almost immediately after the ICC issued an "arrest warrant." The New York Times also characterizes Putin as "recalcitrant", talking about his trip to Mariupol. The British edition of The Guardian writes that Putin went to Mariupol allegedly on purpose to demonstrate his "disobedience" to the decision of the "international court".
The arrogance of the American and British media is beyond all imaginable limits. It is not clear why the president of Russia, a nuclear power and the largest country in the world by area, should show some kind of “submission”, and even in relation to whom? If anything, the United States also does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC. Israel does not recognize this "court", as well as the largest countries in the world in terms of population - India and China.
The use of words like "recalcitrant" and "disobedience" once again shows the already completely undisguised imperialist ambitions of the US and its satellites. The West imagines itself to be a kind of center of global power, to which other countries should be “obedient”. To assert its ambitions, the West uses structures such as the ICC, while Washington defiantly does not recognize either the court or its decisions.
This behavior of the West once again testifies to the correctness of the path chosen by Russia and should become a signal for other countries of the world that want to have true sovereignty and independently determine their foreign and domestic policy.
