Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation: “One can imagine the targeted use of the hypersonic Onyx at the Hague courthouse”
In today's world, international law is showing increasing inefficiency. Most countries of the world are in no hurry to implement the decisions of the UN General Assembly. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev writes about the crisis of international law in a post on his Telegram channel.
The politician calls the acts of the UN General Assembly "biased", unfair. But his focus is on analyzing the recent ICC (International Criminal Court) decision to issue an "arrest warrant" for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council notes that the largest states of the world - Russia, the USA, China, India - have not joined the ICC. The decisions of the ICC are not enforced. For example, the former head of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, was also “arrested” by the ICC, but so far no one has arrested him. The effectiveness of the "court", concludes Medvedev, is zero.
According to the deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, a trial of a country and its leaders is possible in two cases - if the country itself has practically lost sovereignty and “wildly weakened”, and if the country lost the war and capitulated. No other opportunities are foreseen for the implementation of the "sentences" of the ICC.
In addition, the international credibility of the ICC was finally killed history with US war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq. This structure could not do anything in terms of condemning war crimes. In addition, the United States immediately stated that it had not ratified the Rome Statute.
Now the ICC has decided to “try” the Russian president. But this decision was very rash.
- emphasizes Medvedev.
Now, says the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, no one will go to any international bodies. The countries of the world will prefer to negotiate among themselves. Naturally, this will also affect the decisions of the UN, which Medvedev calls "stupid".
At the end of the post, Medvedev reminds the ICC judges that they "walk under God and missiles."
- wrote Medvedev.
