November 15, in Adapazar (Sakarya province), the Turkish company Otokar held a ceremony of presentation of the prototype of the new main combat tank Altay - the first national tank, developed jointly with the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Minister of Defense Ismet Yilmaz.

The photo shows two prototypes: the first (MTR) is designed for sea trials, the second (FTR) is for fire tests. Until the end of the year, Otokar plans to manufacture two more prototypes of the Altay tank, and from the 2015 of the year to begin their mass production. A full-scale mock-up of the new Turkish MBT was first presented at IDEF-2011 in Istanbul.

              Good morning everyone!
Why only to the Turks. Having mastered the technology (which is a priority when creating a tank), they will sell it. Azerbaijan as an ally and partner will buy - 100% of the Arab countries can take, but who knows. take a look at his tests.

Altai is the ancestral home of all modern Turkic peoples of the world, where in 552 BC e. ancient Turks created their own state - the Kaganate. Turks = Turks

              Turkic concept is wide.
Here is a quote from the wiki about those who formally formed the Turkish nation, including Azerbaijan.
According to researchers, the Oghuzs formed in the Aral Sea steppes as a result of mixing Turkic peoples with local Ugric and Sarmatian tribes [4].

In the first half of the tenth century, Oguzes lived in the steppes of the Syr Darya and in the cities of Karadzhuk (Farab) and Sairam. According to geographers Istahri, Ibn-Khavkal and the source of “Khudud-al-alem”, Oguz territory spread from the Caspian Sea in the west and the city of Urgench in the south to Bukhara in Maverannahr and the city of Sabran in the east [5].

The Oghuzs entered the historical arena as the eastern vassals of the Khazar Khaganate. Their first “historical act" was the crowding out of the Pechenegs from Western Kazakhstan to the Don steppes at the end of the 6th century [1060]. This part of the Oghuz became known in Russia under the name Torquay. In the XI century, they were disturbed by the Polovtsy and forced to migrate after the Pechenegs. According to The Tale of Bygone Years, the combined forces of the Russian princes in XNUMX dealt a crushing blow to the Torquay. The fate of these Oghuzs was short-lived, as they had to partially merge with the Pechenegs as part of the Gagauz people, partially pass under the power of Russia and merge with the Russians in Porosye.

In the X century, another part of the Oghuz migrate to the southeast, where they convert to Islam and are hired by the local rulers of the Samanids and Karakhanids, however, taking advantage of the weakening of these states, they rebel and form the Ghaznavid states (with a center in Afghanistan) and the Seljuks ( with center in Turkmenistan). Having seized almost the entire Middle East, the Seljukids are the most viable, laying the foundations of the statehood of modern Turkey (through the Koni Sultanate), Azerbaijan (via Kara-Koyunlu) and Turkmenistan.

Nank altay, which is Turkey's first national development in tank building. The tank is so named because Altai is considered the ancestral home of all Turkic peoples. The Altay tank was developed by the South Korean company hyundai rotem in cooperation with the Turkish car company otokar. The basis for the new Turkish tank was the South Korean tank XK-2 black panter. Turkish military engineers altered and enlarged the turret, increased its armor protection. It is known that the armor and fire control system are Turkish developments. Also, unlike its South Korean "parent", the Turkish tank has seven road wheels (the XK-2 has 6). In the Altay tank, South Korean technologies, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, will be about 60%, and its cost is estimated at 500 million .dollars. How many Altai tanks will be produced is still unknown.

“Tank M” is the first Russian tank, although it was created on the basis of the French Renault FT-17 (also called “Russian Renault”, “Tank Freedom Fighter Comrade Lenin”), the first Soviet tank and the first Russian tank put into serial production . It was produced in 1920-1921 at the Sormovsk plant (Nizhny Novgorod) in a small series of 15 cars. Despite the official adoption of the Red Army in 1920, the tanks did not take part in any military operations. They were in service until 1930.

It would seem that, or who, so threatens the Turks to invest in such an expensive project as creating their own MBT? But even the Turks understand that the army of a truly independent country must possess weapons of its own production. But the Leopard is an excellent tank, and I don’t think that Germany would refuse to supply Turkey in any quantity. There is something for our big-star to think about.

The Buryats (Mongolian group), as well as Evenks, Evens, Nanai, Udege, Ulchi, Negidal (Tungus-Manchurian group) belong to the same language family. "

        Where are the Turks? laughing
Hypothetically - (if you are too lazy to look at Wiki) Altai is a possible language family, which, according to its supporters, includes Turkic, Mongolian, Tungus-Manchu and Japanese-Ryukyu language branches, as well as the Korean isolate language [1]. These languages are spoken in the territory of northeast Asia, central Asia, Anatolia and eastern Europe (Turks, Kalmyks) [2]. The group is named after the Altai Mountains, a mountain range in central Asia.

These language families have many similar characteristics. The question is their source. One camp, the “Altaiists,” sees similarities as a result of a common origin from the Pra-Altai language that was spoken several thousand years ago. Another camp, the “anti-Altaiists,” considers similarities as a result of the interaction between these language groups ... Well, pr. Nonsense.
