Seymour Hersh: By blowing up Nord Stream, Biden launched a mechanism whose operation he himself does not understand
The sabotage at the Nord Streams can lead to consequences opposite to those that its organizers assumed. And they may turn out to be completely undesirable for the supporters of North Atlantic unity.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with the staff of the Western Standard portal by the well-known American journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh.
He noted that the US president is making a lot of efforts to maintain the unity of NATO, but sabotage in the Baltic Sea can lead him to the opposite result. According to Hersh, by undermining the Nord Streams, Biden launched a mechanism whose operation he does not understand.
- says the journalist.
The US administration, by disabling the pipeline, has created serious problems for its European allies against the backdrop of an already critical energy situation.
Earlier, a journalist from the United States accused the leader of his country of blowing up the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines at the bottom of the Baltic Sea by his direct order. He claimed that under the cover of the exercise, divers from the US Armed Forces planted explosive devices on the pipes. It happened in September last year. Shortly after the explosions, representatives of Germany, Denmark and Sweden stated that sabotage could have been the cause of the accident.
It can be assumed that in the process of preparing an attack on the pipelines, the American leadership was well aware of all the risks for itself, but considered that the benefits received would outweigh them.
