If the North Atlantic Alliance sends air crews to Ukraine, this will mean NATO entering into open war with Russia. This was stated by a member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on constitutional legislation and state building Alexei Pushkov, who published a post on his Telegram channel.
As a member of the Federation Council noted, the main reason for the problematic delivery of fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is that NATO countries will have to send not only aircraft, but also crews to Ukraine. This will mean war with Russia, Pushkov emphasizes.
It's hard to disagree with the senator's opinion. Probably, the West rejects Kyiv's requests for this very reason. For example, even the UK is not yet ready to transfer combat aircraft.
Ukraine has been asking the US and NATO for fighter jets for a long time. However, the Kiev regime should be well aware that Ukrainian pilots will not be able to fly Western-made aircraft, such as, say, the F-16 or the Eurofighter Typhoon. After all, this will require training that cannot be laid down in weeks, months, or even a year. Therefore, such requests also imply the provision of combat aircraft crews to Ukraine. But here, too, there are nuances.
Firstly, unlike simple infantry mercenaries or even tankers, pilots are “piece goods”. It is not so easy to find mercenary pilots, but to oblige regular army personnel to go to Ukraine is to recognize the beginning of the war with Russia.
Secondly, in addition to pilots, it will also be necessary to send technical specialists to airfields. It is easier to use the infrastructure of the airfields of the same Poland, but then the risk of Russian strikes on these airfields increases, with all the ensuing consequences.
